@@MariusBotha Hi Marius I started out building our own trailer not knowing much and opted for rubberide axle instead of leaf springs to keep the height of the trailer down. We will be testing it in the Cederberg in the next week or two. Dimensions 2.4 by 1.5 by 1.5 high .What do you think will be the drawbacks? Fortunately it is designed so that it can easily be changed to leaf springs because we did not know what the outcomes will be .We are going to film it from behind and will provide those clips if you are interested

With everything that has been going on the past couple of weeks. Glad you are up and moving around. I quite liked your explanation on how the run-in brake system works.. I never completely understood how it worked but now I do. Quite like the initiative you took to build the rod adjuster. I am planning a build myself. and what you are sharing has helped quite a bit. I am still trying to decide of what to use on my tiny camper trailer.. solid axle or independent suspension.. Both of them have pro's and Con's. (When I am talking tiny camper trailer.. with run in brakes I mean it needs to be light enough that I need to be able to tow it behind either my Suzuki SJ410 or Suzuki Jimny. :-))

Hello Marius, I have watched all your videos and am amazed at the craftsmanship and ingenuity of your build thus far. I was wondering, do you have the plans for the entire build? Something i can take to a metal shop and have them lazer cut like you have done? Thanks for your time and keep up the good work!

Hi. Thx. Currently I only have the sketchup files that I use to export dxf files for the laser shop. They are a total mess. I have sent them to a few people that have asked but mainly I think it's best to use them for scale and measurements and re draw them. It also makes building alot easier if u drew it knowing the order that sections need to go up. Mariusbothachannel@gmail.com Thx

Thanks for explaining the trailer brake coupling I had a fair idea how it worked I’d like to know how it works when you reverse the tow vehicle without locking on brakes on with hydraulic you gotta get out the vehicle flick little lever over and then you can reverse the one you’ve got there you can just reverse up without doing that Curious about how it works

  • @MariusBotha

Hi. Thank you for watching. When I do the adjustment of the brakes I will show the setup and how the auto reverse engages. With these run in brakes when set up correctly u can do an emergency stop. and from that standstill go into reverse and they will auto disengage. Thank you!!

I was going to ask the same about reversing as I couldn’t see any provisions for it. But now im very intrigued with an automatic disengage function. Love your work & glad you’r ok

BTW, im totally using your kitchen idea, great and simple concept.

Hi there. Here by us it's not legal to modify the axle. As soon as it's braked the certification changes and a new plate gets made. The backing plate that holds the brake shoes and springs are welded into the axle. Thx
