In this video i show you how to fit a side-imaging / side-scan fish finder transducer to the Hobie Guardian Retractable Transducer Shield on a Hobie Outback Kayak. I run-through the process of fitting a Lowrance Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer from the Lowrance Elite FS 9 fish finder, however the same method can be used for most sidescan transducers from Garmin, Humminbird, Raymarine etc.
After attaching the transducer to the Guardian Shield, i show you how to activate the retractable feature of the shield, allowing the transducer to be raised into the hull when launching, landing or navigating shallow water, and then lowered when is use. This allows the transducer to sit proud of the hull so that the sonar can shoot either side of the hull and function correctly.
The Hobie Guardian Transducer Shield is a feature on the 2019+ Hobie Outback and Pro Angler models.
