Hi mate, great video! Could you confirm after installing this cable and when playing tracks can you skip songs from the HU and steering wheel?

I ended up pulling the 21 pin connector out of the head unit recess into the space top right of the glove box, connecting the new part then threading the new 21 pin connector and Bluetooth module back into the head unit recess. Was enough length on the wiring connecting the two parts to allow connections to be pretty easy. I’d Struggled for ages to force the connected parts through the gap with the head unit attached, no way I was getting it through and pushing the head unit back into place. 330ci 2006.

Sorting out my music is the first thing I would do when I get a car

Nice video mate! I've got a 2004 330Ci it has the factory old school sat nav. Do you know at all if this would work with that? I've heard some things about it needing different wiring or something, it's got a weird DVD drive in the boot that runs the nav and the CD slot in the main head unit (but no CD changer). I don't really know much about it and the info seems confusing and conflicting, not sure I'd you'd know anything about it. Just thought I'd ask as you seem to know your stuff, first time I've come across your channel, subscribed! Thanks man & take it easy :)

To anyone maybe still watching, you have to push the little thing REALLY far in there, only a really tiny bit should stick out. I just installed it and it really is that simple. Already installed it a few hours ago and it didn't work, thought I pushed every cable in perfectly, but that really was my problem. Nearly gave up on this already.

Another great video Luke! I've been using a Bluetooth adapter in the cigarette lighter slot but this is much more OEM. Did you have to input a radio code when plugging it back in? Also my e46 doesn't have a CD changer, only a single CD slot, will this matter? Dubstep will always be a guilty pleasure hahaha.

Thanks dude! I didn't have to put any radio code in, just plug and play essentially! Not sure whether the cd changer or cd slot will affect it, there are different ones available for different specs though! You and me both aha 😂

Hello.. i have a question.. i have a 2010 bmw x1 e84 .. it has a business cd player .. ( no Bluetooth)... I bought on ebay a used professional cd player, because it has Bluetooth... i still have to install this .. my question is : do i have the microfon already installed on the car ? ... i will add that i have the buttons for the voice comands on the steering wheel.. but the car was “born” with the bussines cd ( no Bluetooth).. thank you

why you don't have the AUX mode on when you steaming via Bluetooth? There we can see track 03.. this is from cd playing. Can you help me understand?

Great video! Regarding the connectivity/cable issue before you resolved it... you were able to connect your phone with the Bluetooth-adapter, right? Were you also able to play a song from your phone yet the BMW sound system wouldn’t play it on the speakers? That’s my issue here and I’m not sure if I failed to connect the plug properly... thanks in advance and greets from Germany.

Hi there! Yes I was able to connect my phone and play music without sound coming through the speakers! I checked the connectivity on the initial port (needed a little extra push in place) or you can also try the other port next to it! For me it just needed a little extra push in and it worked fine Hope this helps!

Hello guys! I do have the same problem, connected everything the way is says, but I can barely hear the music thru the speakers only with volume off, if I raise the volume I hear the music from the cd…any ideas?

would it work with the cassette player type?

I ended up getting the cd changer Bluetooth adapter (from the same seller, the one you install at the back) for my e46 and the installation is way simpler, there’s plenty of room back there for the adapter? Maybe I should make a video?

Great video! Wanting to confirm, does the same Bluetooth adapter work if it's a tape player rather than cd player? I've got a tape player and then a 6 disk cd changer in the back. Can't see why it wouldnt work but just thought id check!!

It actually doesn't work because there's is no aux input in your player (that tiny connects which is essential) however there's one guy that has made a chip that plugs into your cd changer bus connector in the trunk and kind of uses that for bluetooth. However you won't be able to play any actual CDs while that is inserted. Check out e46radio.com for info. There are nearly 6 types of players used in these cars and only 2 of them are ready for aux. EDIT: apparently there are modules nowadays which use cd changer port from the rear of radio. These are about 80$ from eBay

I bought a similar adapter. Does your car's cd player also have an AUX mode? I ordered the adapter from aliexpress and the seller said that he doesn't think it will work if I don't have aux mode on mine.

Ok. I just installed the adapter and the AUX mode appeared “magical”. All is fine and working great

Update: It finally arrived! Overall GREAT product w/ quality sound for music/phone calls. *For those living in the USA or in a country where the steering wheel is on the left side* do not waste your time trying to squeeze the adapter/all the wires into the left or right side. It WON'T fit, unless you are a magician. It took me 3 hours to learn that... but the BEST and easiest way to do it is to tuck them to the back left side behind the air vent. *Yes that means you will have to remove the air vent*. Don't bother taking out the glovebox either. Thanks again for the video and awesome product suggestion! Definitely was worth the wait.

As far as I’m aware the connections are the same, would be worth removing the head unit to see if it matches? If not, I’m 100% they make an alternative for the navigation unit instead 👍🏻

Hi! The cd front loader does indeed work, however the 6 disc cd changer is what the bluetooth uses to work!

I have business cd radio, doing everything like you, phone see bluetooth, and it is flashing, they can connect, but when I switch to cd mode, on screen “no discs” “no disc”... What sould I do, any solutions? There is a cd storage in the back, and had a phone in the past.. do is affect anything?

Worked well on my car. There's an empty space on left side which I used for the cables. Fits well

I've heard some older ones with cassette players have issues, but a 2002 will have no issues. If you're worried you can check if you do have the connector on the back of your head unit and if you do I'm 99% sure it'll work.

Funny enough I was here just after finding about this device on the forums, they said it worked on cars from 09/2002 and up, seller said then same thing, thought it was a fantastic thing to get Bluetooth and keep a stock look, so ordered one. When I commented I just hard ordered it and not received it yet, I was simply telling what I got told. Well a few weeks later I try to install it on my 11/2002 e46 that had the Alpine version of the cd53, which I was told was an indicator that it would for sure work, but it never did, I even returned the adapter and bought a different one thinking it was a bad one, to no avail. After more digging I found out the date is supposed to be the radio's manufacturing so I reported both listings I ordered from as misleading since it was clearly stated car manufacturing date and never radio manufacturing date. I also found out BMW technically could code it in as the only thing locking it out is that the software version of the radio needs to be v43 (don't quote me on this, too lazy to search again so I'm trying to remember) and after going in secret menus in my unit I realized I had v41... So I ended up getting a Android Head Unit from aliexpress, it's a Kapud one, 7inch screen, 2gb of ram and it looks vaguely like the stock nav option, or more exactly like all the dynavin, seicane, eonon and other expensive options, it cost me around 150€ and I'm happy with it. After installing head unit reloaded I even got android auto working, and it works better than in my dad's 2016 Audi which is quite hilarious given it's an aliexpress unit with an hacked version of android auto vs a major German car manufacturer lol

Hey anyone! I recently purchased the same bluetooth device for my own e46 and had same issues as Luke where it connects to bluetooth just fine, but it doesn't play any sound through the speakers. It still recognizes the cd changer in the back. I've pushed it in further just as Luke, no fix. "Stress levels are rising" Anyone able to help?

Does anyone else have an issue when you come to the car at a later time it won't let you connect to the Bluetooth? In order for me to reconnect I have to pull the main connector on so the Bluetooth is discoverable. When the unit is connectable it is phenomenal...just wondering if I missed anything or do I have a defective unit?

just tried this in my 2001 e46 but idk how to get it playing because i only have the single cd (don’t have the mode button like the video) only have a button for cd. my phone says it’s connecting but idk how to play it in the car. anyone with the same problem or knows how to fix

Cant with the earlier decks. Have to be one with a mode annd after a certain date like 2003 because it wont have the software update in it. Sooo hit up some junk yards and from late 2003 +

Hey mate I'm struggling to put the radio back in due to the lack of space. I've pushed the bluetooth device and it's wires down all the way into the glove box but I can't get the big black connector to budge and move down to the side. This big piece is keeping my radio from going in place by about 1.5 inches. Any chance you can help explain how you got the wirings to fit down the side ?

Make sure the connection is secure, mine wasn’t hence no sound! The little plug may need to be moved as well!

I’ve got one but it’s not working at all. :/ it says cd 6-99 then bolts back out as if it can’t hold signal. The Bluetooth is connected finely and all cables are pushed in well. ???

Will this work too with the cassette radio?

Only if it’s the business or professional cassette. Reverse won’t work

Once I connected the Bluetooth device, the sound comes out but it only works properly on the right side speakers, there is sound coming out of the left side but quietly and distorted. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix it?

@@EdenYisrael Do you mean the L and R balance? Yes, the right side works perfectly and sounds great but when I adjust fully to the left to isolate it, sound comes through extremely weak and distorted.

@@markhenson1790 just checking, but does the left side work when you use the regular radio? if so, you may have a bad speaker. if it does work, a pin may not be pushed in all the way

@@EdenYisrael Yeah, the left side works fine on the normal radio. I will try again tomorrow and push the connector in as far as it will go. I have a feeling the connector may be faulty.

@@dariosestak6547 Actually I have a update on that awnser. I have one of those business CD from bmw and own a 316ci from 2000, I bought one of these adaptors and it didnt work. Since I live in europe the button that says "mode" in my radio it says "cd". The adaptor works of the mutiple cd "tecnology" that the radios that say "mode" instead of "cd" have. I think that for any business cd radio that has that spec it will work!

About the compatibility for the adaptor + cassette radio, I doubt it will work. But changing the cassete do the cd radio should be doable since I don't think they would make different cable harnesses just because the car had different radio options. Sorry if I misspelled something btw.

But i sholud buy some additional adapters or what? And if it really works, IT SHOULD be possible to connect to that BLUETOOTH adapter because that is actually what i am trying to do. Like i wanna new bussines radio so that i can buy thos bluetooth adapter and have better sound quality after all

I would look over all the connections and double check they're connected, I found it just needed to be pushed a little further in to connect properly. If not, maybe disconnect the adapter and see if the radio works without it.. could be that the adapter is at fault? Also double check the fuse for the radio, could have possibly blown? Hope this helps.

@@LukeBudd cheers mate. When I first connected it the radio worked but bluetooth didn't and no device found so disconnected all and started again. Then no power at all back to radio even without the connector attached. Replaced all fuses but radio now completely dead although when all connected there is still a blue light on the bluetooth device that flashes blye so weirdly seems there must be some kind of power but radio won't turn on.Am gutted. Not sure what to do next 😕

I was able to skip songs and adjust the volume from the steering controls
