Installing a Backband on a Kayak - Weekly Kayaking Tips - Kayak Hipster
Спорт
I recently installed an easily available backband on one of my kayaks, and thought it might be helpful if you're looking to do a similar thing to yours.
This is the one I used through an affiliate link:

Nice one, Hipster! Unfortunately SnapDragon is no more, but their backbands (very similar to what is now being used by Tiderace kayaks) have a super wide plastic band that holds the actual backband. Those I have found are MUCH better because they completely eliminate the backband twisting and getting underneath you when re-entering the boat, eliminating the need for the bungees. However, adjustment is manual by moving to a different hole in the band itself. If any of you have ever hated the twisting during re-entry like I did, you might try to find something similar.

Nice! I’ll pin the comment for others to see. 👍
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your Kayaking knowledge with us.
Very nice!! Plan on building a strip version of the outer island. Impex/formula came stock with immersion research backbands. Cheers
Good to know. Thanks
I recently bought a used P&H Dawn Treader Odin that has a back band. It has a strap in the back to attach it to a kayak, but there is nothing behind the seat to attach it to. I don’t want to put holes in the fiberglass, so do you have any suggestions on what can be glued in to hold the back band in place? Thanks!
Looks like a good way to update an old second hand boat or for those who get backache on longer paddles. Have you tried rolls and rescues with it yet? I like the adjustment features on it

Absolutely. No, not yet, will be next on the list. The few times we were out we were exploring and fishing, so I didn’t do either a roll or rescues. But it does feel comfortable on the back, I would guess a roll will feel normal, and a rescue will be tougher in terms of it being an ocean cockpit. I’ll report back as soon as I do.
