Installing 4 Culverts In The Driveway
Ойын-сауық
Installing 4 culverts in the driveway. Back at the pond job and today I'm putting in 4 24" culverts so the water from the field can drain into the pond. I'm doing this so the water will not wash out the driveway, and with the driveway built up it will help drain the water to the culverts. I still need to get some rip rap and place around the culverts but I am waiting until I finish the base rock on the road. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #Culverts

This project is huge with all kinds of interesting things going on. You did the Coliseum on that last job but you never warned me that you were going to dig the Panama Canal, too!!!! I think the culverts came out good even though it was a bit of a pain getting them in place. You got everything in before those in-between walls collapsed so it's for the best now anyway. Super nice work and great entertainment for the whole family.

Lol I’ve definitely been landing some bigger jobs lately. Thank you! They seem to be holding up well we’ve had a few rain events with them in place. Appreciate you guys watching!
Hmmm, Berkshire Hathaway (Warren Buffett) might say, "let's have Acme Brick build a new brick plant in SW Missouri. A new clay deposit has been discovered".....😃. Project is looking good.

🤣🤣 they could! Thank you!
That driveway reminds me of an area in South Dakota where we went pheasant hunting. The land is pretty flat and they raised the roads up. They had culverts for creeks to pass through but heavy rains would run over the road and wash them out. They had tried bridges but water would run around one end or the other and wash the approaches out. They finally put dips in the roads paved in concrete and just let the water run over it. There would be 3 or 4 inches of water running over the road normally. In a heavy rain, more could run over making the road impassable for a short time but at least it didn't wash out and take days to repair.

Yeah we talked about that incase it does flood but they wanted to try this since they aren’t paving the road for a few years.

Great video Brandon, I think you did a fantastic job with those culvert pipes. I think that was a great idea the way you set them. That's going to be one top notch driveway when you're done.

Thank you! They seem to be holding up well. We’ve had a few rounds of rain since I put them in 🤞🏻
It can’t be easy trying to predict what water will do! Thinking with your experience it’s a little easier for you! 🌧️⛈️

Brandon, how much will your off road truck haul? Is your son old enough to drive the haul truck? Hope you had a good Father’s Day.

The few times I had to place a culvert I always dumped in 57 rock as a bedding and then rocked the culvert a bit to settle it. Your work looks good as always! Some people would place a culvert and backfill only to have the bottom wash out and the culvert sink and get silted up.

That’s a good idea. I do like using the rock around them to fill in all the voids. Appreciate you watching
I would have put the clay just up over the culverts and packed the ends of the culverts before spreading stone. That stone is going to keep spilling out between the culverts as you drive near the edge.
@eliteearthworksllc

This clay is always in clumps and it’s not really loose like the red clay. Once I place the rip rap along the ends of the pipe the stone will fill in the voids and it should hold everything in place

@@eliteearthworksllc Put some fabric down before the rip-rap or it will keep spilling through.

I love your videos but I have a suggestion for an interesting improvement. In addition to your explaining the job why not take a still shot off the drone footage showing the entire job. Then you can show the shot and use an electronic stylus to show the actual plan. That way the viewer can better connect the progress to the outcome. I have not seen this technique used on any other excavating youtube site. You could be the first.

I could try that but there is no plans for this job. Most of the jobs I get I design as I go or just visualize the end product. This site they gave me an idea what they were looking for then just let me go to work and make the call on most of the layout

The new off-road dump has been earning its keep lately, are you able to haul that job to job or need permits and hire a truck snd driver ?
@eliteearthworksllc

Yes it is. Yes I can haul it on my tag trailer behind the Peterbilt. It weighs around 20k lbs and it’s just barely narrow enough to fit on the trailer lol
That setup should handle any amount of water that comes down that channel short of a Biblical type flood. Lol. I believe she'll do alright.
