    Good thing that leaf didn’t get in there along with the dirt when you disassembled the housing on the bed of your truck. A little dirt in the transmission won’t hurt anything and I am sure this mod will make it run better 😂

    What are the normal temps you’ve been seeing with the revised bypass from GM? My 2018 1500 w 62k miles TC went out and dealership replaced TC along w valve bodies, gaskets, seals, etc through warranty. Also identified no scarring to pump. Just been paranoid about where my readings should be at in which conditions. Thank you!

    Thanks for the videos first off. I bought a 2015 Silverado WT2 a few years back and never cared for how hot the transmission got. Never had any issues (it's at 140k miles now). That being said, I gave that truck to my dad. And I just bought a 2017 LT with 57k on it. I am going to do this upgrade for my new truck just to be safe. Also, I am going to do this to my dad's truck as well. I will be dropping the pan on the transmission on my 2017 soon as well. As GM recommends I will not be flushing the fluid. But I am changing it. I know the say to do it at like 90k or so but I've always been told it's not a bad idea to change the pan fluid every 50k. Can't hurt to do some preventative maintenance. I've had a few Silverados in the last 20yrs or so and they've always treated me right. That being said, I believe a lot of that has to do with routine maintenance. So again, thanks for all the videos. You've helped me do all this stuff myself and that's saved me a ton of money. Keep it up man.

Apparently the thermostat now has an updated part number 85585333. Are you aware of the differences between the updated version compared to the 86774933 that you used? My 2018 chevy silverado 2x4 transmission started overheating 235° and above. Dealer says it needs a thermal bypass valve not sure if this is related but I thought id put some Info here to help someone else not have to get a full rebuild which I was sold by a transmission shop not the dealer 4500$ I get the truck back after the transmission rebuild and it was still overheating so I was pretty pissed and brought to the dealer so I could get a true diagnosis. Transmission shop was trying to sell me a transmission cooler 285$ which sounded rediculas so be careful and take your truck to a dealer unless u know transmissions or these newer chevys. Anyways thanks for the video hope this helps

    It's important that the half moon shape ends up in the same "clocked position" as when you took it out. If you notice the top portion is not open all the way around. The opening must line up with the cooler openings on the block, otherwise cooler flow will be restricted.

  • @a1smith2468

    It doesn't matter. The openings for the cooler lines and the openings for flow in/out the transmission are about 90 degrees apart - you can't be lined up to both at the same time. More importantly, the openings on the top portion are at a smaller diameter so the oil has full 360 degree access to the ports in the block which are at the diameter of the O-ring. You can confirm this by watching multiple videos showing this cooler bypass and none of them are clocked the same. If a certain orientation was needed the part would have been poka-yoked.

    It won't run cooler just open sooner. The temperature is dependent on the capacity of the transmission cooler. It would be the same as putting a cooler thermostat in the engine. If the radiator cannot reject the heat it will just open sooner but still overheat.

  • @stugillis

    @stugillis

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Logan, the GM part has a better temp range than the STL 010 (apparently). From what I've learned the STL uses viscosity to regulate the bypass and may not be the best solution for the colder environments (like us in Pemby) lol

  • @James-rk6go

    @James-rk6go

    5 ай бұрын

    @stugillis WRONG. The STL 010 kit is literally SUPERIOR to the GM's updated thermostat. In cold climates the STL 010 will keep the tranny cooler loop CLOSED and the transmission fluid will HEAT UP quicker as an added positive effect as well. Know the facts before you post bull$hit. Maybe actually watch the Superior Solutions videos and you'll understand.
