    If you are wondering if you should install electric cutouts, then you should. The sound in person is 10 times better than any sound clip you will hear on KZread. Also for anyone wondering, I only revved the engine to about 2,000 RPMs in this video since the car had been sitting and the engine was cold. I'll post some more videos with some driveby's and some higher revs for anyone interested

    Hi Jeff, I have an SS with the LS3. got rid of the mufflers and put on the Solo Axleback. So putting diverters in after cats would basically bypass the H PIPE and stock resonators which are different and smaller than the resonator muffler that the L99 has. My sound is good currently and louder than stock was. Do you think that the diverters would still be worth it volume wise since I already don't have muffs ?

    @@bobcolleencaron8190 great question. It will make your car louder and change the tone of the exhaust. It will not be as extreme as on a car with no cats, long tube headers and a big cam. But you will have more of an echo since the diverters open up right under the drivers seat. For me personally, I would not put diverters on the car since you already have an aggressive axleback... but that is personal preference. I like to use them on a setup that has either stock or a very quiet aftermarket muffler since it is much more bang for the buck. Also, be aware that all cutouts or diverters will leak a little when closed eventually.

    Thanks for watching, glad you liked it. It's not the most professional install, but it works and I've had zero issues so far.

    You can actually just cut off the cigarette lighter part of the cord and it will just be a power and ground wire. You can run the power to your batter/fuse box right in the panel you removed, and ground the black wire to bare metal and it will be completely hidden

    Sounds so simple... I feel really dumb for not just doing that. Thanks for the idea. I will probably do that on my next one!!!

    Are you abe to put these inbetween the cats and headers? Or just after the cats

    Short answer is no but there are a lot of things to consider when it comes to placement. In general I will say that if your car is stock or tuned to use cats with all O2 sensors enabled, then you should not install cutouts before the cats. If your car is modified and not utilizing the rear O2 sensors it is possible to install cutouts before the cats. However, it is best to give yourself at least 2 feet of exhaust pipe between your O2 sensors and your cutouts so fresh air doesn't interrupt the AFR readings and mess up your fuel trims.

    I ended up selling this car a couple years ago. At that time the cutouts worked great but they did leak a little. The cool thing is that the flange is pretty standard so getting cheap replacement motors for the butterflies shouldn't be a problem if they only last a few years.

    Should I get a tune with these?

  • @JeffLyle

    @JeffLyle

    A tune has it's benefits even on a completely stock setup (AFRs and timing can be improved for maximum performance). However, the gain in power on an unmodified car is very minimal. If you have other mods on your vehicle like long tube headers, a cam, or even some larger aftermarket air boxes, then you will need a tune. If your only mods are cat-back exhaust related (including cutouts and mufflers) you do not need a tune. Just make sure they are installed at least 18" - 24" behind the rear O2 sensors (if you are still running factory manifolds and cats). If you install them too close to the rear O2 sensors, you may get a CEL due to outside air mixing with your exhaust gases near the O2 sensors. Thanks for watching and go get some cutouts now!!!
