Install a Window | Box Truck Conversion
Ойын-сауық
Today we're cutting more holes in the box! It's time to add a window. I decided to go with emergency exit style windows because they hinge out from the top allowing them to remain open in the rain without letting water inside. Take a look and see how I did it.

THIS BOX TRUCK CONVERSION WILL BE DIFFERENT!
Throughout my 5 previous conversions, I have focused on building, only sharing highlights on Instagram Stories…THAT STOPS TODAY!
For the first time, Nomad Brad is actually documenting his process of converting a box truck into a tiny home.
This will be a unique series for 2 reasons:
1) I have tons of experience and unique ideas after spending 5 years living in vehicles and fully converting 5 different rigs.
2) This will not be a video where we complete the full conversion in a shop, then move in. I am doing this build with the intention to live in it ASAP. The order in which I choose to build systems will be based on what is required to start living in my new home on wheels. This will be great insight for folks looking to get on the road ASAP.

I appreciate that! Ill take all the love & light i can get 😎
I don't like windows. My box truck. added more insulation and turned my box truck into a giant refrigerator; with 3" of xps foam. The truck so easy to heat and cool and is sound and light proof now. I exit the front and back door. All doors are insulated too. I got rid of the roll up door, in favor of a wall. I was taught to always put entry and exit doors in a corner. I notice your cargo entry door is in the middle of the cab wall.

Very nice insulation choice!
I am going to enjoy this entire build. I love to see each step and the creative side of box people make the interior. Your a cool guy Brad; awesome work.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Happy to have you on board
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Just so you know, the wood pieces on the walls are not for bracing. There are strictly for tying off. I'm a retired mover and this is a common misconception. You can get rid of them if you want and will lost nothing, while gaining space.

I only have one window at the rear end in my box truck campervan. When the back door with lift is closed it covers the window so my van is then in 100 stealth camping mode :)

Haven't those window manufacturers learned to include a template?

No! They still do not include templates. I don’t understand why not 🤷🏻♂️

Why did you make the cut from the outside instead of the inside? I have the same truck and im about to install the windows
@nomadbrad503

It was easier for me to do it from the outside, you can do it however you like. Inside cut is fine
How did you hold the window in place from the outside? I'll be adding windows to my box truck shortly, but I'm doing this alone so I'm curious what your trick is to do it alone. Thanks!

Those plastic clips on the window hold it in place if you cut the hole correctly. It kinda snaps in

Hey dude, I have searched every website I can think of to try and find a (12' box truck) to convert to sleeping quarters and tow my 88yj Jeep goes offroading adventures. Any ideas on where to locate a 12' Box Truck. I am 68 years old and don't want to go any larger. Thanx, Guy

@@1011Guy you’ll have to check often and wait a bit for a good deal. They are popular work trucks for small business so they sell pretty quickly. Took about 3 weeks of looking to find this one
