Install 2nd Row Seat | Ford E350 Van
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
We decided to install a second row seat that is removable for a couple extra passengers and still have the space for extra cargo.
We found a driver side 2 passenger seat out of a Ford Transit Van on OfferUp for $100, and the tracks on eBay for $100 with shipping. We didn't have to move anything under the van and is very heavy duty.
Material List:
Driver side 2 passenger seat (Ford Transit)
Tracks for Ford Transit seat
Bolts x 8 -Grade 8 Steel, 1/2"-20 Thread Size, 1-1/2" Long (McMaster Carr is good supplier)
Nuts x 8 -High-Strength Steel Nylon-Insert Locknut, Grade 8, 1/2"
Grade 8 Steel Washer for 1/2" Screw Size
Locktite
Steel plates (Lowes or Home Depot) Great idea from: www.outdoor-wanderlust.com/
Spray paint
Silicon
Rubber Spacers
Tools:
Angle Grinder
Drill
Stepped Drill bit
Wrench

I watched this video like thousands of times and finally I installed my Second row seats for my son. Thank you!!
Turning my work van into a work/camping van for the family. 2013 E-250. Thanks for the informative video.
Heading home to measure my van to se if the bench seat I have will fit, this video was very helpful.
Thank you. You have some really clever ideas.
I put a transit seat in my van. I cut off the OEM hooks on the seat and attached the seat to L-track. So if I want to remove the seat I can use the track for tie downs or to attach cabinets etc. also huge advantage is you don’t have funky brackets sticking up on your floor
Very helpful. Was thinking a more rigid material (wood?) for filler in gap under seat rail. Inexpensive way to add seating that is removable.
Great vid. Planning on installing same in my Express van

how did that go? what kind of seats you use also have an express
Sweet idea
What is your background professionally sir? You seem to be very comfortable with this project!
Could you install the tabs from the bottom of the seat into the bottom of something else, like a cooler, and lock it into place in the tracks?
I know this is an older video, but can you do this to any type of van. More specifically to an older econoline. I assume yes but different measures.
Thanks for your help! I might knock on your door in the future ✌️
What year transit would this seat be from? I'm from the west coast of canada and can't find anything that matches that not $1000
Does anyone recommend installing this on top of the already installed insulation, sub floor, and flooring? I would have to remove all of those to install which is fine but im just wondering.
Hi there! This looks amazing, How hard is it to put the seat on and remove it? does it need a lot of tools?

He showed it. It doesn't require any tools, you pull on the two cords and it releases.
May I ask if you were able to get insurance for installing the passenger seats yourself?

We actually looked into this a fair amount before installing the seats. Where we live it is common to insure older vehicles for liability only, meaning you carry insurance for if you injure someone else or cause damage to someone else but your personal vehicle is not insured for damage. Having the added seat and/or all of the extra bed/cabinets etc does not impact this type of coverage which is what we carry for this vehicle. If we had a newer more expensive van (sprinter etc.) and had full coverage there might some additional questions the insurance company would have about an aftermarket change.
Where can I find one of these second row seats with the to tracks and screws?

OfferUp, Craigslist (best way to find local and save on shipping), or Ebay. There seemed to be a good amount of them on the market recently.
I am having trouble knowing how wide the sheet metal must be ? It looks like yours is a few inches wide but the picture in the video shows 1 inch? Can you clear this up? I’m about to follow instructions to a T
