Looks nice, I'd like to see how this looks like on a 3 door jimny. ❤ if any pics

Word on the street is that the roof load rating on a Jimny is 30 Kg, I'm not aware of a rooftop tent that is suitable in this instance. ~ Ben

Pretty cool to these type of tents coming in under 50kg, anything heavier is too much of a compromise (imo at least)

It's pretty exciting to see more functional rooftop tents coming in at much lighter weights nowadays, it opens up a much larger pool of suitable vehicles. ~ Ben

I like the idea of this RTT. Light and slim. But it has a few cons that for me are deal breakers. 1) The fly-screens on all doors should be on the outside, and the canvas inside. 2) The rear door (canvas & fly-screen) should zip down (like the side doors/windows) that way you if it's raining you can still leave part of the rear door open at the top that is covered by the small awning. 3) It does not have any channel at the bottom aluminium frame. 4) it does not have a solid base. They're just my opinion. Though its slim profile does look good on top of a 4WD.

Their focus was on the weight being minimal and the profile being low, I guess some mods needed to be made. That being said, it;s still a comfortable tent. We'll be passing feedback like this onto the manufacturer. ~ Ben

I like its weight and slimness. Ideal for the weekend warrior. The fly screens should be on the outside.

We'll be passing the flyscreen feedback onto the supplier, I'm not sure if they had a rationale behind it being on the inner. ~ Ben

I have a Sherpa Roofrack that I've install this CF RTT onto. I'm in the market for an awning but wondered if that latch would protrude too much to the point it would hinder a good fit for the awning in question. Any thoughts on that? Thanks for the vids btw

I just installed my IO CF RTT with my l Sherpa awning brackets (not the Sherpa HD ones, that will not fit). Awning and bracket fits no with issues!

That's a good consideration for any awning mounted alongside this tent, you do need to make sure you have clearance for the brackets. ~ Ben

Why do they never have angled rungs on the ladders, they’re not designed to be installed vertically and stepping on the edge without shoes is uncomfortable

Get an Alu Cab. Their rings are wide AND angled properly.

How come the carbon fibre one is heavier than the normal one(35kg). Can you explain the differences between the three models?

  • @Corey-pd3mi

Prob it’s just a carbon look panel stuck on the aluminium

Dimensions are a little different with the carbon fibre model offering extra length than the standard. The lightweight (non carbon fibre models) have a soft tonneau cover and no aluminium rails on the top section i.e. no channels for accessories. If you want to add roof rails for example, which hopefully are an accessory available soon, then you'd need the carbon fibre model. The carbon fibre model has latches for closure, the lightweight version is zipped, and the mat inside the carbon fibre model is self-inflating as opposed to the foam may in the lightweight version. ~ Ben

Always amaze me with some vehicles using rooftop tents, my last trip. I seen three Suzuki jimmys All with rooftop tents. Nice looking setups but geez the weight on those small roofs. It's funny. Sometimes long weekends you get the police four-wheel drive blitz on some tracks but they let the roof tents get away with it.

I agree, but lighter models like this one are making it possible for SUV's to carry a rooftop tent legally now. ~ Ben

$3990 What is in the carbon fibre? Gold? Geez. I have a $129 tent that sleeps 8 and is the size of a esky and weighs 28kg. That's insane spending that much. Man some people have more money than sense.

I totally understand your argument, I have trouble justifying the size and weight of a rooftop tent when a compact standard tent offers more space. That being said, rooftops are versatile and popular, those looking for a rooftop tent suitable for an SUV for example will be interested in these. ~ Ben

  • @freedompanda9438

No. The thing is flimsy. The roof materials rattle. It’s like crispy dry wax paper in a stiff wind. Carbon fiber is strong. We get it. But the rattle is unacceptable, not to mention the potential to delaminate. And the bottom: seriously? This tent is a joke. No thanks. For just 20 pounds more get the Alu Cab 50. And if 20 pounds is a dealbreaker, you must be fitting this on a 1982 Honda Civic. Come on.
