Blending outdoor durability with a slender build is the Lightweight Rooftop Tent by Inspired Overland.
Boasting a stand-out yet streamlined design, its gas strut-assisted opening of a PVC softshell lid frame has it both fast to setup and quick to pack down. Its tough 2000D waterproof Polyester Oxford main fabric is UV-protected to prevent damage from harsh Aussie summers - heat-sealed and double-stitched for ultimate strength and butt-kicking durability - while the included rainfly withstands the wetter weather. Plus, three exterior entry points from both the side and the rear of the tent ensure easy access, where high-density tulle windows offer breathability from the hot nights to the hazy mornings.
With an included 3.8 cm foam mattress and anti-condensation pad too for comfort and convenience, the large built-in storage pockets keep the hiking kicks intact while the two additional smaller pockets keep the knick-knacks, electronics, and portable gadgets tucked away. Hit new heights with the included telescopic ladder with adjustable raises too - plus, an aluminium mounting base with two T-slot mounting tracks and stainless steel mounting brackets allowing fitment to various roof rails, offering true versatility on every outdoor adventure.
The Inspired Overland Rooftop Tent is the lightweight setup covering all grounds for off-track overnighters!

Do you put the self inflating mat in by itself or on top of the standard mattress that it comes with? Also could you sleep with your head in the wedge? I know my pillow sticks out past the top of my head maybe it would be fine to use that unusable space in the end.

Sadly you can't exceed 30Kg on the roof of a jimny. Insurance may reject your claim if you have an accident, probably not great for vehicle dynamics too.

@@rrrandommman true, just thinking this could be the one if I want a RTT, it’s the lightest RTT I’ve ever seen

Any idea if this could work on a 5th gen 4runner with factory rails but upgraded heavy duty cross bars?

Possibly, as long as the brackets fit and you;re within the weight limits. I;d recommend checking the vehicle specifications to make sure. ~ Ben

how does it mount on a rhino rack platform?

I'm not overly familiar with Rhino rack, I think the slats are wider in which case you may need some custom or Rhino Rack specific brackets that are compatible with the M8 channels on the mounting rails. ~ Ben

Could you attach this to a trailer if your car is too small? A modified trailer to attach it to I mean?

I reckon that's a good way to set up your camp kit, that way you won't be lugging a rooftop tent around on your daily commutes. ~ Ben

I don't get it. Why are the fly screens on this RTT on the inside? I would have thought that common-sense dictates, they should be on the outside. Just like tents or houses. Is there something that I'm missing here?

Most swags are the same. I guess it depends on what you'd prefer. I can see privacy being the main issue with this setup.

I'm not sure what their rationale was, it is a point of difference and in line with what many tents used to be. We'll be sure to talk to the manufacturer about it. ~ Ben

I like the idea of a lightweight & slim RTT. But with the windows/doors zipping up to open / down to close, it's a deal breaker for me. In this tent, if you want any sort of privacy, you have to zip them fully closed. If they zipped up to close, you can at have them partially open from the top for airflow, and still providing privacy at the lower portion.

A few people have mentioned this, not sure if the manufacture had a reason for making it the way they did, we'll be sure to talk to them about it. ~ Ben
