Most cops won't speak out against the blue line badge especially the good cops. They don't want to be hounded out of the service because of their views on that badge. They will eventually stop wearing that badge but it will be replaced with a secret tattoo.

It would be common sense that if it's not uniform policy they shouldn't wear it in the first place then there would no need to complain

This is a common human problem. Of course police paid by taxes have more responsibility than us plebs to behave responsibility. It does all come from the top. TBL wearing reflects top brass gov directives and then their contradictory behaviour.

Fellow officers obviously have duty to report anyone breaking policy ASAP, which they agreed to when granted their job

I’ve needed police help and asked for it twice. Once an attempted car jacking and when I flagged a cop car down the cop said he’d got a report to write and he’d do nothing. Car sped off doing about 80 in a 30 no lights. Another time I was assaulted twice and asked for help. The cop said it’s not my job to protect you. I’m 71!! So no I don’t need their kind of help. No point.

Uniform policy should be controlled by every pc not just the inspector

Well I’m very happy to hear the Inspector calling you “sir”,mi hate with a vengeance these young whippersnappers calling the public “mate”, it just indicates a complete lack of respect!🤬

If a constable is not correctly dressed can they be ignored and if they arrest someone can the summons be thrown out of court. Then we have the military foot and mounted guard in their very smart uniforms of their particular regiment. Not one charity badge to be seen attached by the wearer, yet how many guards lives have been lost in action. My heart goes out to serving guards persons and the hours of hardwork they put in pressing, polishing and making sure they look fantastic each and every time they parade. As the inspector says, the gang badge is not part of the uniform code, so the inference is that it shouldn't be worn. To exaggerate, to prove a point, if any police officer turns up with a clown mask on then obviously I'm sure, the higher ups would DEMAND them to remove it, with the threat of discipline if not, but it seems a blind eye is being shown to these badges.
