INSPECTING THE WORLD'S CHEAPEST FERRARI 360- HOW BAD IS IT?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Good deals do happen but sometimes they are in fact too good to be true. I purchased the cheapest running, driving and clean title Ferrari 360 Modena (price and details in last video) without having it inspected beforehand. I took the risk on a cheap exotic car, let’s see if it paid off or if I just got myself in over my head.
P.S. I know my audio still needs work. I’m trying! Will improve but here’s my take if you have any suggestions that aren’t super clunky.
- In-car I used an external mic but I hate it, sounds pretty fake. Like when ppl use GoPros mounted on a rear bumper for car sound
- Used a camera mounted mic on the whiteboard segments but it’s pretty echo-y
Follow me on the other things, I promise its not just cut downs from this episode:

360 owner here, F1 boxes are fun if in full working health and properly setup which yours isn't, it probably just needs the PIS (clutch bite point) adjusting using a diag computer, headlights can be split to clean inside and polish lenses as I've just done mine, for spares there's quite a few good suppliers here in the UK that ship abroad - eurospares, superformance, scuderia, all supply new and used as well as Strada spares on Facebook that breaks a lot of Ferraris. Mines currently in bits for a winter refresh of everything - major service with belts and timing reset for upcoming ecu reflash, gearbox service, suspension overhaul, new breaks all round, re-paint side skirts and front bumper, headliner and minor seat refurb, a/c repair, engine bay refresh, injectors plus more that I've not remembered. If you need any advice id be happy to give it. Enjoy it

@vin_tra Just don’t start acting like stradman and being super over joyous all the time… I mean I’ve heard he’s really like that in real life too, so I get it’s just his personality, but it drove me away as being fake, the way he does his video edits, like keeping the car keys in the microwave, and stupid stuff like that, always being too overly happy… just be yourself. You’re literally killing it right now vin! Like I’d prefer your vids over 4/5 the people I watch on here. It’s refreshing seeing someone just be real and honest and true… not bullshitting pricing and doing the “KZread” thing. I friggin LOVE DDE, but they hype up absolutely NOTHING sometimes to get clicks… title says “broke my Ferrari” and you get into the video and they laugh and say “yeah it broke traction!” 😂 it’s funny and clickbaity, but you don’t have to be that way. Your fans will watch regardless. I think dave_DDE learned that lesson with the fake appraisal video that he did a few months back… hopefully you won’t need to make those mistakes. Learn from others, listen to your target audience, but most importantly, do this for YOU! Because YOU WANT TOO! Not because you feel you OWE anyone or need to PROVE anything. Anyway I’ll always watch. KUTGW!

I have worked in a shop that specialized in rebuilding engines like this. Your emissions problem most likely has to do with the camshaft gears not the belt itself. Definately a timing problem, the dino/tipo engines have adjustment at the cam gears the guides are weak. They have a habit of wearing out, almost immediately in some cases, going from 1000 RPM to 8500K almost instantly has it's drawbacks. The cam(s) is likely floating between two positions getting the car to pass emissions sometimes. This being a 1999 car it likely got this problem early and the owner was chasing the issue. it sucks. could be the cams themselves too... but it sounds healthy enough. just like 2 siamese b18C5's . I've driven this one F1 and 6 speed. the F1 is kind of more fun. This one was my favorite until i drove a 458.

You shouldn’t have to blip the throttle to downshift and you don’t need to lift the throttle to upshift. The computers do that for you based off of throttle position and rpm. It going into Neutral probably is an indication of an issue with the F1 system or the clutch life is at the minimum. If you keep the F1 system, get an updated TCU and it will improve the shifting drastically

The DR-10L is a killer mic for in-car stuff that gets clean vocal audio and engine noise. They record natively, so you have to align the audio, but it's very worth it.

One thing that plagued those 360 spyders, and coupes was the exhaust being directly next to the transmission, which ends up causing gearbox heat soak to rise and creates shifting issues. Had one come down for a brake job, went for a road test and the car was stuck in first gear the entire way, checked the gearbox temps and they were through the roof Still, one of the coolest cars of its time imo!

I owned a 03 360 F1 Modena for 4 or 5 years from 2010 , put 40t km on it including hard track days. The comments re the clutch slip position is sort of right. It is adjustable and that makes a difference. So does the way you drive it, my clutch did not need replacement during the time I had it and the subsequent owner did another 20km without a clutch, after that I lost touch with that car. But it could be the F1 pump is on the way out. That is $$$$. I had an incredible TUBI exhaust. Your rear grill is a challenge style grill, expensive if original. The reverse selector looks like the spring has gone. You must ensure that the lever is forward. If the lever triggers the sensors when you are flying forward you can destroy the drive train. The big clutch savers are do not back it up slope, and get off the line lightly. I selected neutral last few metres to a red light but do not know if that helped or not. I did not lift the throttle on up change. My additional advice check out the electrical charge system cables for fraying which is common and can do a lot of damage(ask me how I know) especially at the engine end near the alternator.Check and secure all underbody panels, put a fitting on all mounting points. Buy parts like discs in advance and have them on the shelf ready to go. Same for tires. Check fenders and keep rolling them to prevent metal cracking. Get a radar detector and laser jammer if you are allowed. Have fun!

Really great break down Vin and nice job on the edit too. While I might have called BS on the last video (see SP below on that) I do appreciate the full breakdown on it. PS I honestly meant either the owner was pulling some BS or that there was more to the story as to why the car was so cheap. Didn't mean it to come across that you were lying about it. Sorry that it came across that way. I did appreciate your reply.
