the best way to not loose money is to buy cars that are at the bottom or near the bottom of there depreciation curve. Also try to get a good deal some where between whole sale/trade in value and market value price.

check the VIN online, you can often see that some cars have been bought at auction and the condition at auction
@redersbeaters.24692 сағат бұрын
Always check cold start. Check fluids before. Start. Have them start it and check for smoke. Bad rings. Valve seals. Always wanna hear a cold start. Try to never meet not at their house unless they trailer it. And feel radiator cap to see if it has been run. Body work you are correct. Drive train. You are wrong. Sorry. It’s an opinion. But what you said is a bad way to get into something expensive. Coolant looks odd. Maybe an additive to seal a head gasket. Maybe a jump start cause battery or alternator is bad.
@vin_tra2 сағат бұрын
Like I said, ideally you see it cold start. Some cars, it’s a must. Others, not so much. I used to think it was a major red flag to not see cars at peoples homes but realized that it’s just people being worried about people more often than not. If the car you are considering has cold start issues, see it cold or leave a deposit and when you pick up the car hear it cold
@redersbeaters.2469Сағат бұрын
@@vin_traI understand that. But every car is a must in my book. Granted that’s my opinion. Just cause the internet or other peoples opinion on a car. There is always that one. Just bought an 03 4runner. With 230k on it. As you’ve said before. Mileage doesn’t matter. Heard a cold start. Looked it over. Few frame issues. North East Ohio rust. Body clean. Needs some interior panels. Nothing major. But your videos help people. Well I hope people who have issues buying good used cars. Use to be a used car tech at a few dealers. I’ve seen some shit. lol.

Considering that you go through a lot of cars (buying and selling), how do you manage not to lose money after paying taxes on cars and then selling them privately? Are you able to recoupe those taxes on private sales or is it only through dealers when buying another car during that sale?

@vin_tra, great video...one thing I've always wondered with the flipping car strategy is how (especially in CA) you can get around the tax bill of registration. I can definitely buy and sell cars and level up, but the tax hit just kills me every time. Is there a solution you recommend?

Super educational video. The only thing that I would add is that IF you are buying a new make/model that you aren't familiar with, I always recommend doing a basic web search for things to look out for. Often times you will find specific years or engine options to avoid. Some times there are unique maintenance nuances that you would never know about unless you were super familiar with the platform. Just a thought...
