This video really explained how to know if a tie rod end and the sway bar link is bad, i have seen a lot of videos talking about replacing it and the noises but they don't explain or test in the video how to chect it like this video. Thanks for the video. I have a Mazda 6 2010 and the tie rod ends and sway bars can be easily move with my hands, they make some noises and also i have a little of vibration when driving 75 miles per hours or above.

Best video out there. The others only show how to know when it’s bad when driving. This guy shows us when it’s bad and explains everything there is. Uses his hand to shake the sway bar to show that they are bad. Well presented my friend

While there's no tension on the sway bar arm when the links are off it's also a good idea to replace the sway bar arm bushings that attach to the frame of the car. Those lose firmness and then even if the links are firm the sway bar isn't doing anything to even the forces on the wheels if the frame bushings are crushed.

Finally someone is comparing old with new links. My 8th gen civic links are very loose and easy to move with fingers once I have it off of the car. The new ones were too stiff to move with fingers but thought these were faulty but apparently they are suppose to be stiff lol

Thanks for the tips, As you were saying that we should replace both at the same time I am reminded of the time I took mine to a well known national pro shop and they charged me for doing both. Only to find later when another one went out that they had only replaced one because the pro's don't follow their own advice if they can make a buck. You can't trust anyone these days. That's why I try to do my own work too because then at least I know it gets done right. When us 99%ers can communicate with each other we find out that we are being misled much of the time by the "pro's", especially all the years that we couldn't share information.

When you take it to a shop you ask for the old parts back. And both parts should be the same. And yes some shops don't want to do that because there scamming you.

sway bar endlinks should have a bit of play if the suspension is loaded (i see that you have a jack to load the suspension). but yes, it shouldn’t flop around that much once it’s out.

You really need to use a torque wrench to do the final tightness.Using an air tool,it's possible to either under tighten or over tighten, not good.

Thank you so much, I have had this problem on my car for the last six months and replaced both side's cv joints, inner and outer with no solution, when I tested the sway bar link it is loose like your old one, I will report back as soon as I replace them this weekend.

yeah doing these on any 99-02 Honda/Acuras is a headache and a greasy mess. the nut to hold the ball in place is under the boot and usually strips.

normally when the sway links are bad so are the sway bushings....you'd want to swap them all at the same time....the bushings can be a little bit more work to get to but it's best to do it

I checked my sway bar links on my Lexus and it does move a little bit but you kind of have to use a little bit more force then what you were doing. It’s not as loose as when you were jiggling it. I guess I’m ok? maybe it needs to be replaced soon but not critical yet

When you start to hear light clunk over cracks and small bumps in the road, it's time. The suspension exerts much more force than your hand can so imagine how easily if you can move them, the suspension can

yea the ford sway bar links are trash to be honest they dont last as long because the rubber boot dont have enough grease it in from the factory even tho its sealed. and also the aftermarket ones are much better. mevotech ones are much bigger and have a bigger ball joint in side it.

LastSocial you have to have both wheels off the ground otherwise it puts too much pressure on one side to make it easy to replace...that's the purpose of the sway link, to keep one wheel on the ground when the other wheel is off the ground

You'll hear a lot of front end noise, eventually the link will break. You'll notice a lot more body roll when cornering, but beyond that I've never personally considered it to be a problem that requires immediate attention.
