@@james5289 the artist just updated me with this color scheme: charred brown (game color) > ushabti bone (citadel) > flayed one flesh (citadel) > dead white (game color) and Matt black (army painter) > neutral (model color) > light grey (model color) > dead white (game color)

I always love seeing artists being able to make a living off of their art.

I don't think it is their art. But they bring other peoples vision to life, and that can be rewarding. One young woman said she applied what she learned at the shop to her own art. I've worked in an art shop doing mural size copies of other artists original work. It got stressful. A good manager makes the difference. This looks like a fun place to work. Hopefully they get decent money.

That huge magnetized diorama is batshit crazy. Love it.

As a kiwi who once upon a time tried to collect Warhammer 40k i feel this pain and gave up years ago basically purely because of the manipulative pricing.

Living in the UK have worked with loads of Poles and they are all a great bunch of people with great work ethics and Poland looks a beautiful country !

Torun is by far one of the prettiest cities, along with Krakow and maybe Gdansk. Many of the others are ... ahem... not quite so attractive. Everywhere there is a sense of open space that you don’t have in many western cities. Also you don’t get the ‘clone town’ phenomenon of the UK and Germany where city centres are dominated by a small clique of retail chains.

Holy Moly, I never expected commission painting to be this huge!

Toruń! I love the town! I am from Sweden and have been visiting Toruń several times since the 90:ies while riding motorcycle through Europe. I was happy to learn that there is such a great studio there. I have always been interested in model painting and gaming.

It is so interesting to see a studio not only this large but also with this many female artists.

@@gpk8059 Chicks are good at that kind of work. For starters there is no heavy lifting. And they have a kind of patience for details. At the bronze monument foundry I worked at girls always did the detailed wax work. The boys did the metal grinding, and welding, and pouring 100 pound crucibles of 2000 degrees molten metal. The girls had it easy. The wax room was air conditioned. And when I shucked oysters for a living the girls were really fast at that, and they made more money because we got payed piece work, by the gallon.

I would never have dreamt that there would be a business this large doing commission painting. Very nice to see so many people employed in the hobby, looks like a dream job. I know a few Polish people, never realised Poland was such a beautiful looking country.

The game is still up and running with fans taking over Relic's role in it's upkeep and development. I think you can find info for it by searching online under "Dawn of War Unification".

Magnetic displays and matching individual bases is just one of the countless commissions available here. 😉 Figure painting, gaming table tops, modular table tops, dioramas, model assembly and customization. Want to give grandpa/grandma, or dad/mom, or brother/sister, or significant others, or friends and beautifully crafted model of their favorite car/truck, or boat, plane, train, castle, bridge, whatever... that’s what I do. Just one vet at home (DV W/O benefits) trying to make a living. 😉🇺🇸👍🇺🇸 But hey, these guys look awesome. I would love to reach their level some day. 🇺🇸 Semper Fi 🇺🇸
