Nicholas Jarrett When people who don't know a lot about firearms talk about them, they always go overboard by calling AR-15's a high powered assault rifle, when really, they aren't considered, by the engineers that design them, to be "high powered". My pistol joke references how these people mistake, or most likely intentionally refer to these pistols this way for the purpose of shock value. When you say a gun is automatic, that means that you can hold the trigger down, and the mechanism is designed to rapidly fire, and eject the casing. My point is that certain people use the word automatic when it is truly semi-automatic. I really cannot tell you if a lot of reporters do this for shock value, or if they truly don't understand the difference. Maybe a little of both, I suppose. Oh, and sorry that this comment is so long.

+Nicholas Jarrett An "assault rifle" denotes select fire capability. ( semi auto AND full auto) which requires a class 3 license, which are very unattainable and extremely expensive. Also virtually zero of the legal class 3 firearms are used in crimes. The problem with most of the populations view on firearms is that their info is given to them by people who know nothing about firearms or do but choose to deceive them.

That's called bias, which is the thing you're defending. Journalism also has fuck all to do with justice. Justice is for the justice system. While the rioters destroyed thier own neighborhoods, the asian groups formed up to keep themselves safe. Its kinda funny, when you think about it. During Huricane Katrina, the police left, leaving militias and groups of people to protect thier homes and family. When the hurricane ended, and military returned, they took all the firearms (historical or not , they were all destroyed). After confiscation , gangs came in for 'revenge' on alot of the homes, and forced people to leave their once safe homes. imagine that, situations where criminals do not follow the law.

The British monarchy (which is also the Canadian one) is limited in what they can do by things like the Magna Carta, English Bill of Rights 1689 and various newer legislation. OK. Say what you want about the wars in the Middle East. Personally I do not condone them, but they are no excuse for what organisations like ISIS are doing. Several layers are in place. First is the U.S. military, 2nd are U.S. Customs, Border Patrol and other federal agencies working internally; 3rd are your state agencies, but they would be overwhelmed; 4th are your local agencies, but they would be overwhelmed; 5th is any standing militia, and they too would be quickly overwhelmed; 6th is you - the lone person (with your family and maybe neighbors and/or close friends) with what's required to make it from the starting line to the finish line. You would have to figure out among your small tight knot community what requirements are essential to survival. I say, "Never rely on the next person for the long-term survival of both you and your family."

@@notlogical4016 The gun issue got complicated when mass shooters started mowing down kids and locals by the dozens in seconds. I'm all for militias defending freedom with their guns but what does society do about these mass shooters? Society wants a solution to that.

@@Zodak5D society arms themselves and shoots back. Look at what happened in White Settlement, Texas at the church of christ, that could have been a bloodbath. That church is a sister church to mine and as to every church of christ ive been to they always have armed members in attendance. That man would have killed dozens of people, but there were others there to shoot back. He only hurt 2 people, because he got his head blown off by a good guy with a gun when he started popping off.

A real, classic liberal wouldn't have anything negative to say about these guys. By definition, a liberal would giveth no fucks what these men spend their free time doing, as long as they obey the law of the land and don't harm those around them. I'm a liberal. I own guns, stand for the decriminalization of marijuana, am for gay rights, support the police, and also support the rights of these militiamen to gather and operate as they see fit, within the law, as long as they strive to uphold the safety of their fellow citizens by ensuring their actions bring no harm to them.

In general I didn't mind this doc, as it is a good example of an urban leftist being thrown into an environment that he doesn't understand and making an effort to learn about the view points of others. what really bothers me though is the end scene where they just have to get in a "F*** Whites" message. I'm not very happy how popular that is becoming these days.
