Inside the First North Korean Art Gallery Abroad; open to visit! (Mansudae Art Museum, Beijing 798)
Ever wondered about North Korean art?
The Mansudae Art Studio in North Korea is one of the biggest production centres of art in the world. It was established in 1959 and produces all of the country’s important pieces of art, including the big statues of the leaders in Pyongyang and other statues of the leaders throughout the country.
You can visit the studios in North Korea usually… but recently it has been put under UN sanctions (see the important note below) and the country is closed at the moment, so I turned to the next best thing; the Mansudae Art Museum in Beijing's 798 Art District.

I would love to do the full month tour all around North Korea! It’s been on my bucket list for a long time and would allow me to experience everything from the beautiful mountains to the sandy beaches to the wonders and history of NK!

I want to see Pyongyang and go to all the museums, their history has always fascinated me since I first learned about the Korean War!
Love that Zoe is like a little window to life in the DPRK, so the tour with Zoe as the guide would be the ideal tour to open that window wider. Hope to try lots of delicious North Korean eats along the way.
I think I'd like to do a tour during new year's, I imagine celebrating that together with Koreans at Kim Il Sung-Square would be quite fun :)

There's definitely a lot of that going round in Pyongyang!
This little cat is a first time commentor, longer time fan. I'd love to do the marathon, sport can be a great way to get to know a counter a little differently, but I better start asap!
I'd love to see the countryside of North Korea because there's so much unadulterated natural beauty, maybe visit or stay on a farm and have a meal with a family or local restaurant. I love traditional Korean architecture so I would like to see the Grand People's Study House and also the modern colourful apartment blocks. It would be nice to see where young people hang out at night times, join in on local leisure activities.

What a fun question! I think maybe October; simply to try and break up the gloomy U.K. autumn evenings! Maybe to coincide with the anniversary of the foundation of the Workers' party!

Winter/autumn in UK is the worst..! Nice choice :D
If money and time weren’t in consideration I would want to take a tour in 2024 around spring time. Late March or early April. I would like to visit Koryo Museum, the Chollima Statue, Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang, Paektu Mountain, the Arch of Reunification, the art museum which you mentioned in this video would also be an excellent addition, the demilitarization zone, and the Geumsusan memorial Palace. I would also like to try their famous Pyongyang cold noodles! (Also, not trying to be greedy, but I saw a wonderful train ride once. The countryside looks beautiful!)

1st priority 😊
I would do a visit for maybe 2 weeks, with a skiing trip in the Masikryong ski resort and a visit to the DMZ
I would like to know about daily life in the capital and visit the countryside and beaches. And if I ever could pet a pungsan i would be so happy : )
I'm greedy, entering the sweepstakes twice :P ... I'd have to say a one week visit in Septemberrrr
those poor niggas, i can’t imagine having to live under such harsh circumstances. i really hope one day they’ll be free.
I’d love to spend my birthday (august) in DPRK, I would love the opportunity to celebrate with like minded friends in one of my favourite places!

I would love to take the DMZ Train ( Peace Train) from south Korea into the north. That way I can see how the culture and surroundings change, but also to notice the similarities. I also would make sure to take lots of delicious food breaks along the way 😊

My tour in North Korea 2024 would be to visit the art studios and if possible the film studios. I am a creative myself and this would be most fascinating to learn more about their techniques and methods. Even if possible to do a workshop with them!

Ooh wow interesting one. I've been to the studios a few times and it was really cool one time to be able to visit the artists and see what they're currently working on
I would visit on the beautiful spring to see Kim birthday fest and the North Korean springs is very lively where I could visit the park or go to the art gallery etc, country of beauty, tranquility and peace.

Yessss I love the hiking there! And Chilbosan if you can make it up north east too!
personally my perfect trip to the dprk would include visit to the kumsusan memorial palace, as well as the international friendship exhibition house, but honestly I would love to see the Moranbong Band comeback on new years celebration maybe.

Having already visited on the 4 day tour, I'd very much like to revisit and go toward the east coast, particularly Chongjin and Rason, and up to the border and over into China that way. I have read many books about these regions and would love to see them in person to fully understand the books.

Would have to be a long tour, including the Pyongyang marathon as I’m a keen runner and this would be the dream race for me. Love to see the lesser visited areas on the east coast, particularly Nampo. Maybe do a bit of snowboarding too. Mass games would be unreal, particularly if Kim Jong Un was in attendance. My ideal tour would be entirely focused on DPRK and the arts. A lengthy tour of art studios of all types - painting, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, etc. with opportunities to ask questions of the artists and see artists at work. A lengthy tour of performance artists of all types and an opportunity to see rehearsals as well as public performances for ballet, circus arts, singers, folkloric dance, AND an opportunity to ask questions of current and retired performance artists that are unhurried. An opportunity to meet with translators of literary works and to gain insights into the literary arts in the DPRK.

My first time to North Korea would be Pyongyang and DPRK 🇰🇵
To be honest, my favorite moments of your videos is when you get to interact with the common people of North Korea. You always hear people joke about how they are all brainwashed but in your documentation I get to see these people with personalities and great energy just being themselves doing all sorts of things. I wanna have chill conversations with people at the bowling alleys, play soccer with them at the parks, casually bond over food and goof around at the beach. Catch a movie and meander around just sight seeing all the well executed and artistically brilliant propaganda works that they have to offer. Maybe a full month summer tour is best for me in 2024. :)

As a question: would it be wise to stop by this store AFTER a tour of the DPRK to purchase souvenir items rather than to make such purchases while in the DPRK ?
@ZoeDiscovers
Жыл бұрын
Well, the main thing to remember here is that the Mansudae Art Studios are under UN sanctions. I'm not sure to what extent it extends to this 'Mansudae Art Museum', but buying anything from there in North Korea is not advised - indeed you would be breaking UN sanctions. However if it's not the fine art you're after but just postcards etc you can buy this from loads of places in North Korea way cheaper and more choice than in Beijing so would recommend buying in North Korea :)
I would really love to go to the DPRK by the sino korean friendship bridge in China, also, close to the border with China, is impossible not to visit the Mount Paektu, and by last, going to the beatifull Pyoingiang, would be like a dream.
up主好好看,祝你在中国生活顺利,过的开心!🎉
