@@johnjarvis8185 Thank you for taking the time to look for answers but it remains that the utterances I refer to in the video are entirely factually wrong. The word “combat” should suffice to conclude that. Air-to-air combat, or air combat maneuvering (ACM), refers to tactical situations requiring the use of military fighter aircraft. The DA62 is also mostly made from composites, so there’s that as well. Anyone saying that a civilian aircraft, never mind one that would be far too slow compared to military fighter aircraft, and that is not designed to carry armament, “was designed for the air-to-air combat role” demonstrates an obvious and complete ignorance of the meaning of those words. The DA62 MPP, (MPP meaning “Multi-Purpose Platform”) is at most designed for surveillance. The information isn’t hard to find, it’s right on Diamond’s website. The MPP's potential stated missions, as per the manufacturer’s website, could be, for example, “law enforcement operations, search and rescue missions, coastline and border patrol, forest protection, disaster management and fire fighting, infrastructure and environmental monitoring, and airport landing systems calibration.” Most of these roles would be non-military, and in any case, the DA62 would be far too slow and vulnerable for anything remotely approaching combat. Ask anyone who’s ever actually engaged in air-to-air combat, and they’d probably have a laugh. I don’t know who created the video, but it’s inane.
