Inside The $10 Million Beechcraft King Air 360ER

Inside The $10 Million Beechcraft King Air 360ER Plane
0:00 - Intro
This is the Beechcraft King Air 360ER, a class-leading twin-turboprop aircraft that brilliantly blends comfort, advanced technology, and improvements in range and passenger capacity. Today we’re going inside the Beechcraft King Air 360ER to talk about everything you need to know about this amazing aircraft.
0:36 - Cabin
The cabin of the Beechcraft King Air 360ERis spacious and well-lit, offering a comfortable environment for passengers. It is 4.5 feet or 1.35 meters wide, and 4.8 feet or 1.42 meters high.
The space has been redesigned to offer more legroom, higher tables, and redesigned seats. The aircraft has a flexible interior and can accommodate up to 15 occupants. The standard seating configuration includes a four-place club, a two-place club, and an aft belted lavatory. The seats are fully adjustable, including reclining options, and are upholstered in premium leather for comfort.
Beechcraft has included ubiquitous USB outlets, which are now a staple requirement for any modern passenger cabin.
The aircraft comes with LED lighting. Moreover, a lower cabin altitude achieved due to improved pressurization adds to the comfort. When flying at 27,000 feet, the cabin altitude is just 5,960 feet or 1,816 meters.
Moreover, the plane employs noise-canceling capabilities and cabin pressurization.
And finally, the plane features a private aft lavatory that is belted for an additional passenger seat. For storage, there are well-designed cabinets and compartments in the cabin, and a generous baggage compartment is accessible from inside and outside the aircraft.
3:40 - Cockpit
The cockpit of the Beechcraft King Air 360ER features the advanced Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion avionics suite, a noticeable upgrade from the Pro Line 21 system of the previous models. The avionics suite comes with three 14-inch widescreen LCD touchscreens. Each screen can function independently, allowing pilots to configure them based on their preferences or the specific needs of the flight.
The avionics suite provides a synthetic vision system, offering 3D topographical imagery. Enhanced maps, MultiScan weather radar, and ADS-B capabilities also come standard with the suite.
Moreover, it includes features like electronic charts, graphical flight planning, WAAS/LPV approaches, and more. The system also features a flight management system.
The primary flight display is split into two halves, each providing comprehensive real-time information, including airspeed, altitude, vertical speed, heading, and attitude. An innovative feature is the addition of a vertical situation display on the PFD, presenting a real-time vertical profile of the aircraft relative to terrain, airspace, and obstacles ahead.
The multi-function display offers a large moving map, engine instruments, fuel status, active flight plan, and other pertinent flight information.
The flight controls, while mostly conventional, are built with the highest level of precision. The yoke provides robust control, with its left and right horns housing numerous functions, such as autopilot disconnect, electric trim, and push-to-talk. The throttles, propeller levers, and fuel control levers are well-positioned for ease of operation, and their movements are smooth. The Innovative Solutions & Support ThrustSense Autothrottle is a key feature in the cockpit.
6:56 - Engine and Performance
Talking about performance, the Beechcraft King Air 360ER has long been a favorite amongst pilots and operators around the world.
As you advance the throttles for takeoff, the twin Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-60A turboprops, producing 1,050 shaft horsepower each, respond with smooth and predictable power. The plane has a takeoff distance of 4,057 feet or 1,237 meters and a full-fuel payload of 1,982 lbs or 900 kg.
The aircraft has a rate of climb per minute of 2,400 feet or 732 meters, and can quickly reach its service ceiling of 35,000 feet or 10,670 meters.
The aircraft's cruise speed can reach up to 303 knots, providing a good balance of speed and fuel efficiency, and the maximum range is 2,540 nautical miles, which is 2,920 miles or 4,700 kilometers.
The aircraft features a landing distance of 2,980 feet or 910 meters.
10:03 - Purchase Price and Operating Cost
The base purchase price for a new King Air 360ER is $8 million before options, and while the total yearly fixed cost is roughly $400,000 to $600,000, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $1,300 to $2,000, and the hourly charter cost is estimated at $3,000 to $4,000.

There are such thing in a pressurized cabin as out flow valve, they are located in the rear of the cabin, constantly letting air out to maintain set cabin pressure. This effectively act as a washroom exhaust fan.

What I’m not to keen about with the king air is the instrument panel. Put it along side the new Honda jet. Or any small Jet. It’s not clean, well laid out. Just very cluttered looking.

99% of Thunderstorms will rise until they reach the tropopause. (1% will be energetic enough punch through the Tropopause). At the tropopause they will spread horizontally to form the anvil. But the altitude of the Tropopause varies with Latitude. At the higher latitudes (closer to the North and South Pole) you will be above almost everything other than the 1% of the most energetic thunderstorms that have punched through the tropopause. At lower latitudes (closer to the equator), at 35000ft, you’ll be in and out of cirrus, and have to request regular heading changes to manoeuvre around the tops of almost every storm because at lower latitudes every storm will reach an altitude above 35000ft, because the tropopause may get as high as 50, 000 feet. Hope that makes sense. CAT (clear air turbulence) is really the only other reason you’d need more altitude, so if the aircraft is limited to FL350 (35000ft) you can only really descend out of CAT. You don’t really want to be tackling any turbulence at your maximum altitude except for short periods. The aircraft is likely going to be to close to coffin corner to comfortably handle anything other than very light turbulence. Generally, flying at an aircraft’s maximum altitude, one should always be aware of the fact.

Agreed. I have nothing against prop planes. They have their uses and can be a convenient and cost effective option for short to intermediate distance flights. But anything over four hours would start to get uncomfortable. A 2500-mile flight would probably run at least 8 hrs. If you're traveling that kind of distance, you either charter a jet, or fly commercial.

@@Georgi_Slavov I'm not sure what your point is. I've already said that for longer flights you either charter a jet or fly commercial. Short flights by jets are already possible. The main arguments for prop planes are cost and the ability to get into some airfields where a jet can't land.
