Inside The $1 Million Cessna 400 TTx

Inside The $1 Million Cessna 400 TTx Plane
0:00 - Intro
This is the Cessna TTx, a sleek and powerful aircraft that takes aviation to new heights. Today we’re going inside the Cessna TTx to talk about everything you need to know about this awesome aircraft.
0:42 - Cabin
The cabin of the Cessna TTx is designed to offer a comfortable environment that makes flying a pleasure. With a maximum seating capacity of four, the leather seats are very comfortable, thanks to cushions that adapt to your contours and still provide good ergonomic support, and offer ample head and legroom. The cabin's large windows offer breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery, making it easy for passengers to enjoy the sights and sounds of flight.
Inside and out, the TTx is a full-featured airplane. Twin carbon fiber spars run the entire wingspan. And embedded in the fuselage structure is a protective carbon fiber roll cage that surrounds the cabin. The airframe has an unlimited life, and has been fatigue tested to the equivalent of 25,200 flight hours. To top it off, the TTx is certified in the Utility category, one of the benefits of which is a comparatively high, 158-knot maneuvering speed. This means you can still make decent time in turbulence, if that’s an issue. For slowing down, there are speed brakes-standard. For battling ice, there’s a flight-into-known-icing-certified TKS weeping-wing ice protection system. For avoiding thunderstorms, there’s XM weather, via Garmin’s GDL 69A datalink receiver. There are plenty more options: Garmin’s GTS 800 traffic advisory system, terrain avoidance and warning system, GSR 56 Iridium satellite datalink receiver for worldwide reception of weather information, air conditioning, and more. Entry for the gull-wing doors is standard.
2:34 - Cockpit
The Cessna TTx's cockpit is a true gem in the world of general aviation, delivering a high level of performance, safety, and comfort to pilots. As for the panel, its clean, well-organized look is dominated by Garmin’s G2000 avionics suite. This comprises two huge, 14.1-inch-diagonal screens in landscape arrangement. To control the display views and system functions there’s a Garmin GTC 570 touchscreen controller, mounted ahead of the armrest.
The TTX also has a dual attitude and heading reference system for redundancy, and a GFC 700 ARHS-based autopilot that can be coupled to the Garmin G2000. The autopilot panel was revised to have a scroll wheel instead of just nose up and down keys.
Combined with the G2000, the GFC 700 allows for coupled go-arounds and it can perform potentially life-saving functions when actuated by the Garmin Electronic Stability Protection System, more on this later. Other safety features include a Garmin GTS800 traffic avoidance system, GTX 33ES transponder compliant with ADS-B regulations. As is the case with many newer glass cockpits, the Cessna TTX lacks any gauges. Instead, back-up instrumentation is provided by the simple yet reliable all-in-one L-3 Trilogy display. The Trilogy traditionally gives the pilot the aircraft’s attitude, altitude plus pressure setting, heading, slip, airspeed, and the instrument’s battery status.
While the Cessna 400 was not rated for flight into known icing conditions, the TTX changed that with an upgraded anti-icing system that could provide up to 2.5 hours of protection in icing conditions.
7:18 - Engine and Performance
Talking about performance, it’s the 310-horsepower Continental IO-550-C and those twin turbos that give the Cessna TTx its satisfying true airspeeds. The company advertises 230 knots as a maximum cruise speed, but that’s up at its service ceiling of 25,000 feet or 7,620 meters where you’ll need oxygen (which is standard); where many probably won’t fly; and at 85% power and a fuel-hungry 24 gallons per hour, at a 50-degrees rich of peak EGT power setting. Still, it’s nice to have the option of flight-level flying for weather avoidance, or to take advantage of rip-roaring tailwinds.
The Cessna TTx has a maximum range of 1,230 nautical miles, which is 1,415 miles or 2,276 kilometers. The plane can take off in 1,900 feet or 580 meters, has a maximum rate of climb per minute of 1,400 feet or 427 meters, and a minimum landing distance of 2,640 feet or 805 meters, all while maintaining a useful load of 1,070 lbs or 485 kg and a full-fuel payload of 458 lbs or 208 kg.
9:41 - Purchase Price and Operating Cost
The base purchase price for a new Cessna TTx is around $800,000 before options, and while the total yearly fixed cost is roughly $80,000 to $120,000, the average hourly operating cost is estimated at $200 to $300.

I'm 10 years out of the aircraft brokering biz but 7 digits for a single engine piston is insane. There's several older but perfectly serviceable turboprops and even "Slowtations" on the market right now for less than that and with the difference in money could easily go towards upgrades or running costs for a couple of years, if not both

I really like these. I liked them so much at the time, I was going to buy one. I found one I liked (used,600ish hours). Went to check it out in the Dallas area. Took a 45 minute flight. hand on, the aircraft is a dream to fly. A little fast over the numbers, but it is a thin wing. Avionics, very user friendly. *Here comes the "BUT"* After doing a weeks worth of research, I found 2 other owners in my area and questioned them about their TTX. They confirmed what I had found out. The fuel burn on these is very under rated. Simple put>>>> They are Gas Guzzler!! I think this is why I found SO many for sale. (I didn't buy one!)

Mil bucks for a fixed gear single engine plane. Absolutely absurd…..

My cell phone can beat it. 450 lb payload? What a joke.
