The item in the herbal soup looked like maybe a jujube? I remember eating them when I was in China. Fresh ones are green but the ripe ones looked like what was in your soup.

Yes, you are right. 🙂 Chinese soups, especially herbal ones, would typically include some jujubes or red dates for added sweetness to balance the savoury. Not to mention these are nourishing & good for blood flow.

It depends how much you're into Hello Kitty. With the meal we had, I'd say at around 3 hours or so.

Yes there are accommodations available around the area. It is a bit cold in Jan and February but pretty moderate compared to the north part of Japan
