Emporia Kansas becomes transformed during the week of Dirty Kanza. It is the largest gravel event in the world featuring events from 25 miles to 350 miles. The event for 2019 featured some of the biggest riders in the world for the Dirty Kanza 200. This video captures some of the highlights, behind the scenes, interviews and life during the Dirty Kanza. We spent the event running and covering as much of the action as we could. Colin Strickland and Amity Rockwell both secured victories for the 200 mile event in oppressive heat with a stacked field.

your end recap is why I love gravel. There is an event here in SC called the Hellhole stage race and I was nearing the end of the shorter option when I cut a flat. another rider gave me an extra CO2 shot and said finish this thing. Hopefully I will make it out to Kansas to this crazy race soon.

One of the best videos I've watched thus far. I like how you told the story with the video, and saved the words to sum it up. I hope you get to cover DK this year with the postponement and all.

Great video and way more "inside" feeling than some of the slicker videos out there. I thought the camera work really matched well with the event so ignore the naysayers. I really liked the shot of Zap and Allen at the beginning of the video. Zap I've read since his early days at Motocross Action and Allen and Skratch Labs have helped me become a stronger and fitter rider.

There will be plenty of slickly produced videos coming out, but Brian's shows you exactly what it is like to be IN THE ROOM, ON THE COURSE, and AT THE FINISH. It is a true behind the scenes look.

@15:49 - not to be a super curmudgeon - it's a tad bit disappointing to see two World tour Riders working together to land on the podium - I would like to see a stage start where there is an elite class that's starts at a different time - meanwhile the amateurs have their own separate start time. Separate pros making a full-time living from cycling from amateurs. Yes I understand that many people will totally disagree with me and that's okay.

  • @bmxshow

@16:39 as I'm sitting here watching these World tour Riders be featured on this video I can't help think about the other top 20 finishers (non World tour or professional) who could dramatically benefit from being covered in these many different dirty kanza vlogs and KZread videos - e.g. professional cyclist taking away the spotlight from a lot of deserving non-professional writers who ended up in the top 20. yes it bugs me that the world tour guys are hogging the spotlight. To me dirty kanza is a homegrown grassroots event first. Yes I'm being a commercial and yes many people would not agree with my opinion and assessment and that's okay.
