That’s actually false! This particular aircraft belongs to and is operated by the US Air Force that’s why it’s called Air Force One! The helicopter that takes the President from the White House to Andrews AFB where Air Force One is stationed is called Marine One because it’s owned and operated by the US Marine Corps if the President is flown in a US Army aircraft then that aircraft will be called Army One! When President Bush flew to the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during the Gulf war aboard a navy aircraft that aircraft was called Navy One! And if the President of the United States was flying aboard a civilian aircraft it would be called Civilian One! This is why Air Force One has 1 more takeoffs than it does landings! When Nixon was flying home to California he was aboard Air Force One but as soon as President Ford was sworn into office the aircraft Nixon was on was no longer Air Force One it became SAM 27000 because Nixon was no longer the President of the United States!
