I literally laughed out loud to that. I live in a tiny, 900 sq foot house; I recently painted one of my walls a dark, almost black, grey...I love it! "Let the damn room be smaller!". 😆

Love her and her story and style, and if you going to paint the white wall go with a black it will make all your treasures pop!
I needed to see this--a house packed with color and eclectic style, not beholden to particular ruling Instagram trends, or with the high end/society approved preppy fabrics, forms, and patterns and such, which can get a bit paint by numbers, and predictable--and this did not disappoint.

"Do what you love." 👈 💯 Thanks for watching 🙏
Fabulous. Let’s start with those amazing windows, light, and location. She picked fabulous bones of a home lifestyle just in that. The art is interesting and considered. Yes, the "arsenic green" was especially used by William Morris, and in fact, one of the reasons he used it so much in his designs, like even in the wallpapers sold, was because he owned a profitable mine or quarry that it was pulled from. People used to go to country houses, feel better, come back home to their expensive arsenic green painted and wallpapered homes, and get sick again. Between that, and the fact that it was considered passé for women to breastfeed but baby formula back then was nothing but flour and water, so many children were stunted in their development if they survived at all, it’s amazing how wealthier people didn’t croak more than they did. In any case, it’s not color that makes a space seem smaller - it’s contrast in a room. For example, dark furnishings or even I floors, in a light room makes a room seem smaller. And vice versa. I love her attitude- then let it seem smaller. Some people, and certainly the construction and furnishing industries, therefore the media, puts too much value in big, vacuous spaces - because it’s more profitable for them. If you want a big, vacuous space- then go outside. Inside, space quality always is infinitely more important than quantity- every time.

It's NOT chaotic! It's beautifully curated and everything is beautifully hung and arranged. It makes for a much more interesting house than all those sterile minimalist houses (SOME of them are lovely, but too many are just sterile). Love the arsenic green! I agree that the opposite wall should have a colour on it too. (It will just be cosier). Thank you for sharing with all of us out here!

Laura is the bomb. Love her. Love her place.
I love her home and her style. She’s lovely!
The portrait of the cheeky lady has the same smile and vibe as the home owner - I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some genetic familiarity there! Lovely, eccentric home and she has such a dry sense of humour! 👍😅 Ps. That dress is out of this world too! Pps. How about a golden-yellow wall to match your painting and yellow cushion?

Picturesque 👏👍❤️
She mentioned gumtree and then i realised "hey shes Australian!" Love the 'arsenic green' (i painted my daughters bedroom that colour and it looked like a fairy woodland with the hot pink, dark grey and white in her room) and id love to know what colour she paints the white wall.

This lady has developed an accent of her own making. I didnt hear any Australian vowels, but an amalgamation of a slight American accent blended with Received English which coincidently many Australians speak. When I lived in Germany my Australian ‘received English” definitely took on the cadence of a slightly different speech as the result of living in Malaysia and then in Germany!

Definitely originally Australian, but I wonder how some of those American vowels dropped in. Maximums works great on a budget.

Hello, there. I really enjoyed Laura's living room as I am not a minimalist person just like her. My favourite items from her findings were definitely the Alphonse Mucha style and reprographics of this artist. Cheers from Brazil. :)

I so love your eclectic apartment. Every piece is so interesting and beautiful….just like you! I loved how you described the pieces…having conversations with each other. Yes do paint that wall. In the same colour, or in a similar colour to that incredible jade green and carved wooden couch.

I have a similar eclectic style with many treasures, all with memories and sentimental attachment. I love bright colors on the walls too. The only problem is that I live in a rental house and not allowed to paint the damn white walls. The best I can do is to have colorful art, carpets, curtains, ect... to make the home more interesting.
Love this home! That green wall is excellent and so much eclectic art and sculptural pieces! And how fantastic is the cigarette machine Art! Genius!

Woah, immediate Aussie accent recognition. It's the way all sentences go up at the end like a question 😂 I'd recognise our accent anywhere! Also, Gumtree!!! Haha I love that she remembered 💖

what's the brand of the green wall color? Love it!
What an amazing apartment.
Wow! Just wow! She has either the items if furniture I already own, or the ones that stand on my bucket list (like the lamps and the sofa). I love how she has combined everything into such a bright and vibrant Place! The green is magnificent and all those pops of color and those little artworks make her apartment a very homey place. I also never knew Utrecht was so beautiful ❤️. Anyway hunting for antiques is just so fulfilling! Often times one gets a story to each item, making it just so much more interesting compared to things you can buy at a store. My favorite piece is my old buffet, similar to hers. It's apparently from the 1980-1990's. The lady I bought it from said her parents picked it up at an antique marked near the french border, in the 70's. She herself lived in a beautiful historical building right next to a massive park cemetery. I dragged the buffet down 4 stories together with my dad on a cold, sunny day. The first night it kinda felt weird to have it in my home because it was so grand and majestic (we have an end 60's mid 70's style apartment). The first night it even really felt like there was a "ghost" attached to the piece. It kinda felt like I was being watched lol. But apparently the ghost and I are cool because it feels really comfy now. But yeah that's the kind of stories you get with antique/vintage pieces :). This needs to be a bigger thing in interior design.

Love people who are fearless decorators. I'm cracking up about the butterflies 🦋, I've never heard anyone say they hate them 😅. I want art machines!
Love it!! To me it's cozy, warm, and inviting.
To me there is no such thing as brass overkill😂 loved the space she created. So many gems in there. It all goes well with her good vibe energy. Iam a fan. If she has a social media account of sorts I would follow her adventures.
Beautiful 💕
Lol I have a lot of things on my wall too. I can’t see empty walls. My dining room is like an Elvis museum lol, shared with porcelain dolls. My kitchen is yellow and has all my rooster collection. I love it😊
Such joyful colors and objects
Gorgeous!
I love it all. I too have lots of brass. I have that same brass pheasant that she has. I love Pink Floyd, Klimpt (sp?), and all the funky decor and furnishings. I wish I could get those tiny art pieces from a vending machine. That is so cool. Her home looks so welcoming to me. I love it!

I could stare at the GREEN wall all day. I find it very reassuring in its attractive abundance. BUT when l look at a minimalist space with empty WHITE walls and sparse WHITE furniture l want to run away.
