Inside a Bullet Factory - Norma Ammunition Factory Tour
Спорт
We went out to Sweden to visit Norma Ammunition, to see the place that produces 75 million pieces of complete ammunition a year! We looked around case manufacture, learned how they make projectiles, got involved in bullet testing and even had a play with a .505 Bibbs and .460 Weatherby on Norma's testing range.
This really was a trip to remember!

I’ve seen the name Norma millions of times and didn’t know that it was Swedish, this gives me even more respect of this fine product. Thanks for this show and thank you Norma for making it possible.

I love how they have old DWM machinery that has to be 85+ years old. DWM was a German company that later became Mauser.

As a toolmaker i must say that i like the term “stretcy things” 👍👍
Smashing video thank you, and thank you to NORMA for the access and giving you the opportunity to film.
Norma makes my favorite ammo. I've shot a lot of it at ranges, and I use their ammo for hunting almost exclusively. It's been a hot minute since Norma invited a film crew to their premises, I'm happy it was TGS's team. Special thanks to them for making my beloved .338 Win Mag, which is unfortunately not too popular in Europe.

Can you please tell me the difference between .338 Win Mag and. 338 LAPUA Mag..? And is there a .338 NORMA Mag..?
@DrBreezeAir
5 ай бұрын
@@Duschbag The .338 Win Mag was introduced by Winchester in 1958 for the Model 70 and was intended for big game hunting in the northern parts of the US. Its perfect bullet weight is considered to be 225 gr. .338 Lapua Mag and .338 Norma Mag actually have a .339 bullet diameter. The first one was developed for long-range military applications, its parent cartridge is the .416 Rigby and it's intended to be used with a 300 gr projectile. The second is geared more towards long-range competition shooting and has the most modern and efficient design.

The NORMA plant shown here is an AMMUNITION FACTORY. Not a "bullet factory". Yes, they DO make bullets there as part of the ammunition, I know and I use their products. Havesomeone with experience who speaks English proof your dialogue, PLEASE. Unless sounding ignorant is not an issue?

Underrated ammo manufacturer!
I have watched enough episodes of "How it's Made" to have had a pretty good guess at ammunition manufacture, which I have thought about many times while handling ammo. I do some hand reloading and am always so impressed by the consistency of bulk ammo over the course of millions upon millions of rounds. I was always curious about the actual manufacturing process. This was a fascinating and informative video. Thank you!

Yes, perhaps to a certain point. But, the video producer has glossed over certain aspects. It was a Missed Opportunity to be very Scientific, which this video attempted, but failed. Be it for fear or favour. When it comes to The Real Bullet's, Education is Key! Which oddly enough should be a Duty on The Manufacturer, And, a Duty on the Rifleman using the Bullet's. Whilst, i Believe, That the Norma company had an intention, especially with use of Jello Targets, to show from a Scientific viewpoint, it was lost in translation into the end Video. Weapons, Rifles, Side arms, Long Range Rifles ALL Require Different Bullet's, which ideally the Manufacturer should have A Duty to Educate The Rifleman, at least the Civilian's. The Military would also be a Duty, which would require somewhat different delivery. Now, it is up to the various Manufacturers to Step Up to their DUTY!

I have watch a number of videos of ammunition factory tours but this is by far the best. Thank you.
Truly appreciate Norma's 22 match ammunition affordably priced decent accuracy in my rifles and usually available. Keeps the fun in and pain out of my rimfire experience.
God bless those in all the industries that are keeping hunting, competition, self-defense and every other form of the firearm industry alive around the globe.
TGS excells once again. TGS are raising the bar on You Tube Shooting content. Well done all.
I've gotten into reloading ammo with my dad, but this gives me a whole new appreciation for manufacturers
Some of the best brass for reloading is made by Norma. I rarely push brass past four or five loads, when it's Norma brass, I just keep going and going. It easily has twice the life use of reloads from other factories brass.

they get their brass from AMMO Inc in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. How do i know that? I work at ammo inc. We produce .223, 9mm, and more ammo for norma for some reason, I don't know why. But ammo inc or once was known as Jagemann munitions is quality brass casings which ammo inc makes for, AAC, Hornady, Federal, Norma, Barnes, and more!

@@markespich8574 If you ever see any brass casings it self head stamped (JAG) which stands for Jagemann I believe, it's the same casing as AAC, Aguila, Norma, Barnes, Hornady, Ammo Inc, Federal, but just with a different head stamp.
Norma is what I think of when it comes to top tier ammo and the US headquarters actually moved to my state of good ole Georgia 😁 A lot of firearms manufacturers have moved here recently and I'm lovin it.

Thank you and Norma for the tour and info.
I am most impressed by those machines to make the bullets. Try inventing that!
Thank you for the tour, I especially appreciate the firing of the rounds.

As a toolmaker it was fun to see the line ammunition must be one of the most press and draw die heavy production lines out there from .22 lr to 155 mm and above
I bought some Norma bullets and the price but the performance was great no jambs out of 200 rounds and I didn’t know where they came from! I have loaded my own ammunition for years, but I never knew how bullets were manufactured - lots of sizing and re-sizing jackets & cores. Loved the video , learnt a lot.
Fantastic video Johnny. Imagine how long it took them to develop every step of production. It takes many years. The knowledge these guys have is astonishing. Love this factory tour mate.
Great ammunition, and Norma brass very tough and great for reloading.
Impressive operation
I’m surprised someone as versed in shooting knew so little about bullet design and using the right tool for the job. Great to see the differences so clearly in high speed gel!

I work for Ammo Inc, Norma gets their brass casings from Ammo INC (or once was known as JAG case, from jagemann stamping across the street from ammo inc) i'm not sure why but we make .223 norma and 9mm norma for Norma for some reason, when it is a ammo inc facility.

@@virtuaguyverify if u want my opinion, their products are crap because their qc is garbage and they hire any idiots who don't give a crap about the job. That explains why you get garbage products lol. Otherwise their brass casings are good that's why we make cases for Hornady, Barnes, and HPM India. Also ammo inc uses Hornady projectiles. Ammo Inc don't make primers, not sure where they get theirs, but from what I heard they are trash.
I was impressed with their testing range, feeding them data instantly.

Their cases are second to none, well with the exception of Lapua. Have shot Norma brass for years and their .30-06 is now on its 18th reload and STILL going strong, with ZERO case head separation. Just regular case length, and primer pocket check and occasional trimming. BEAUTIFULLY made, and was superb to watch this video and SEE it being made
Thank you for this informative and entertaining video.
Very good, I read a treatise on case composition years ago, but the interesting thing was how important it was to correct ratio of metals and alloys to make sure the casing didn't jam in the rifle mechanism. A bullet looks simple but there has been years ad years of experimentation and science behind every cartridge.
I enjoyed watching this episode

Outstanding Video. Thank you
It boggles my mind to imagine some people had to devise & manufacture all the pieces, parts, gears, rods, tracks, tumblers, cutters, etc. to create all the machinery it requires just to mass-produce ammunition. And somebody had to assemble all the parts & make them work. And somebody else had to make whatever tools were needed to make all the machines continue operating, & somebody else did the actual operating & finally turning out this single product. 💥🤯💥
