Hey bro, i want to clarify myself a bit more. The reason you want to get Atlas to 9 star, or any insect for that matter, is to get a buff in Skill Attack, which help a huge amount on the Pang (Panglion) and the GH (Groundhog) . Skill Attack is the thing you want to increase the most if you want to do really well in PvE. Also for stars on your Special Ants. If I were you, I would take JJ (Jack Jumper) and SA (Slim Arched) both to 2 stars. Upgrading their skill 2 is incredibly helpful. Now if you want to do well in PvE, then i would also take GA (Gold Armor) to 2 stars as well, because GA and JJ do very well on the Pang and GH. It also helps that they're Universal Special Ants, so you can use them for all 3 days on the Pang. If you want to improve on you PvP capability, then take GT (Giant Tooth) to 3 stars and continue to put stars on GT, SA, and JJ.

Click the crossed sword icon ⚔️ for march troops then open a unit. Click insect tab and drag the insect to the circle with the beetle icon at the top.
