This is unbelievable video quality and this entire channel desverves so much more. Great review, I wish so badly to ride this ride. I live in Wisconsin and I am 18 years old. I’d love to fly out just for this park one day. 😔

Rode this bad boy when I was 19 in 2003 when it was called just X, Arrows swan song unfortunately…Huge coaster nerd at the time, I saw the first track piece in the offsite parking like on message boards, you hear that younglings?! 😂 The Hype…was INSANE! That second drop is the highlight for me. I love X2 but that original paint scheme was 🔥

It was only once, the wait was 2-1/2 hours my dude…in 100 degree heat. But it was worth every minute and penny. Hopefully, X2 becomes X3 one day and rides for another 30 plus years.

Stair side is better for a few reasons: no flash pass on that side, less likely to have a grouper on slow to moderate days, more likely to be able to go right back into the station for rerides on slower days, slightly smoother, and better views on the turnaround (making the breather element a highlight). On my last visit, I did 13 rides in a little over 2 hours by just going back into the station on the stair side, from about 1-3pm, on a school day. It has been my # 1 coaster at one point, and I still have it ranked quite high. Even the imperfections seem to make it better for me. Honestly, the on-board audio isn't a big deal, as I've had it with and without. You can't even hear it over all the other noise, especially once you drop. The fire effects do add a lot though, especially at night. It is worlds better than any S&S free spin coaster, which I think I've ridden all of in the US. I rode what I consider to be by far in a way the best of those at Adventureland 2 weeks ago, but it won't make my top 100, while X2 is safely in my top 7.

You’re right about the grouper thing since I got assigned seating on the ramp side. Since it was summer, magic mountain closed with a decent amount of sunlight so I guess the fire effect would be better in winter. I’ll be interested to ride my first free spin but X2 is definitely a top 2 ride!

Great review! To be honest, I think row 3 is the roughest row for a coaster. For example, I took a ride on Silver Bullet in row 3, the ride shook harder than Ghostrider. Also so much head banging.

X2 is neck and neck with Steel Vengeance for my number one. And in my opinion the free spins are horrible rides. There's no comparison between the two models whatsoever. I'm 48 years old, and X2 actually had me a bit scared to ride it. It's that intimidating. I got off the first ride trying to figure out wtf just happened, and instead of leaving I grabbed an empty seat that I saw on my way out and took another lap immediately. This is a god-tier attraction and I can't believe it actually exists. As opposed to the free spins which I think would be better off in the scrap yard.

I similarly jumped back in line after my second ride. You can’t ride much like it! I’ll reserve my free spin judgement for when I ride one.
