Are these 40+ footers privately owned or commercially owned? If the former, well the hell do people get that sort of money to buy these monsters??

They all look private to Me. There's about 428,000 millionaires in Florida. Plenty of people to buy expensive boats..

@@MadWolf1980xxx I financed a couple of sub $100K boats here in the UK over the years whilst I was working, just for poodling around an inland river system called the Norfolk Broads. However they cost so much to run and maintain, I ended up getting out the game when I retired. The boating scene in Miami however, is a completely different level altogether :-()

RIBs [Rigib Inflatable Boat] have hardly caught on over there in the states. The only ones I've seen are small. Here in Europe they're everywhere. Technohull are one of the top brands and made in Athens [that's Greece for anyone in the USA]. Here in Europe RIBs are everywhere. Check out this 117mph beast - kzread.info/dash/bejne/do6r08hxp7GqXcY.html

Interesting how 90% of the boats are the same 2-3 brands. Over here in Norway I don't recall ever seeing the same boat twice :D So many different boats. Also interesting that even the big boats 35-40 feet + has outboard motors. Has it something to do with the humidity/heat? Most boats here have inboard motors over 25 feet.
@davebuck3944
3 жыл бұрын
Outboard engines are the more efficient way to go fast. Outboards weigh sufficiently less than gas V8 engines and diesels.
@MikeMessiah
2 жыл бұрын
Its Miami. Americans LOVE speedy boats, and if you want to go fast, u need a central console with lots of outboard motors. Moreover, people like sticking to common brands so that repairs can be easy and parts more available. Owning a British or Italian yacht is a nightmare. They sit in the repair facility for months waiting for parts to arrive in when some fix is needed.
@Chris11249

I feel sad for all the boats that can only go 80 mph :(. And what are the odds of keeping all five Mercury outboards working at the same time on the same day?
Nice! The top speeds on some of those quad outboard are questionable and you will be out of gas in less then 20 minutes at full throttle.

Can you imagine the how much money in boats is on this video? Got to be close to a billion.
Why are all these boats outboard engines?
@davebuck3944
3 жыл бұрын
It's all about power to weight ratio. Outboard engines are much lighter than big block V8 engines. Lighter weight equals better acceleration and top speed.
OK, I am pretty much a landlubber here in Ohio. I have had several small fishing boats up to 150 hp but never been on the salt water. How do those people handle the situation when they need to take a pee or worse yet xxxx? Is there a head on those big open speed boats or fishing boats?
