Scary ain't strong enough-I am a journalist first and have seen so many photographers use this sort of Technology and got fired because of it. Ya can't rely on a photograph anymore to tell you a truth.

This should never be used for journalistic photography ever. But i know some stories too. I guess it will be necessary to declare it in the file if it has been altered and how much. Like a photoshop history list or something in the meta data of the file. Just a thought.
Im a photographer/retoucher/compositor and yeah i can see how this will create problems. But also some solutions/opportunities. It might speed up the whole process of painstackingly looking for stockimages, stitch them together is already done. So you can just focus on fixing mistakes and adding mood and such. It can also make prototyping really fast and leave a bit more time to get creative.

I'm glad there are advantages to this for you! I'd love it if you check back in from time to time to update me on how it's going.
For what I do, this is unbelievable, and I think only positive. For my current work flow I don’t outsource any editing. In one click with will give me back hours of time. This will allow me to frankly have more fun with editing. Because so much of my time is tedious fixing of unwanted elements, they can now be completely fixed. The ability to expand that crop was amazing. I’ve had so many photos that I loved, but basically skipped over because my framing cut off and foot or arm. This can bring back shots that I loved that I previously deemed unworkable. I’m blown away.
Wow! I am gob-smacked at what this thing can do! That Italian village expansion... mind blown ( ( ( o ) ) ) What a powerful tool! I'm ashamed to admit how many times I have cut off hands or arms in photos that had so much potential, or how many times I have a gorgeous couple with great expression and moment, only to realize 'Uncle Fred' was shoving 5 shrimp in his mouth at once just over the bride's shoulder, lol! With this tool, that could become a cherished photo instead of a reject. Flip side... damn this is going to put people out of a job 😞 ... this is only in beta and it's already this good... GREAT VIDEO, KPR! AWESOME!
I see the same thing in my work as a industrial contractor. Automation has and will continue to displace workers as it has throughout history. It’s an unfortunate reality for those who refuse, or can’t, update and diversify their skills.

The crisis we're facing now is "what skills do we update to that won't be replaced by AI in two years?"
We can't trust photographic evidence of ANYTHING anymore. These are so good! You've blown my mind about what can be done now with a few loose strokes and a descriptive vocabulary. I love your teaching style -- clear, concise and quick.

you haven't been able to trust photographic evidence for at least 100 years
Absolutely amazing! However, I've been an avid student of Photoshop for years, learning compositing, and other cool techniques. A skill I was proud to know. Not everyone could do this. Adobe has now made it so easy to create stunning images and composites with absolutely no skill required, prompting me, (no pun intended), to question, Why did I learn all those techniques and skills over the years if the end result is something any novice can replicate in seconds by typing a description.
Yup! This is gonna impact what I do a lot. Gonna take some time to see how much, but glad I have lots of high end clients which hopefully means it will take longer to affect me..

I think what I'm mostly shocked about is that it is only the beta version that we're seeing right now. It will be 2-3x better when it's officially released.
More please! could watch these all day :) Mind Blown

Subscribe to the channel, if you're not already! I'll be doing more videos about AI very soon.
As a photographer and magazine editor, I can see this being extremely useful to me. To be able to fit photos flawlessly in layouts will be a game changer for me.
I agree that it's best to stay on top of tech in this regard. I've played around with Midjourney and its fun, I like it, but I am beginning to get bored with most of what I see people generating now. Then, every once in a while, somebody does something really creative or practical with it and I'm impressed again. I read that Adobe is looking into adding AI manipulation into its metadata (with other edits), so that truthful images can be more easily identified in journalism. I do hope that happens. I feel for your friends (and mine) who might soon be effected by these changes.
Great stuffe
Ha! Your video just got featured during an internal company wide meeting at Adobe!

Did they also tell everyone to subscribe to my channel? 😜
Generative Fill feels like an alien came down from space, coded for humans for a bit, and then released it as a gift and ran away. What else is coming if this is already so good? It's a holy shit moment in Adobe advancements.
Been playing around with AI and also Ai in PS Beta. I think it may possibly put some lower end PS users out of business, but not the High end... I still see a lot of problems, glitches and anomalies with AI that still needs manual touching up... but certainly saves a lot of time.

Yes, but consider that this is still in beta. It'll be twice as good when it gets public release, and then a year from now... man oh man.
Dude.. I used it for 1 whole day and it felt like days went by it was so fun.
The mixed emotions are so very real. Its amazing, but why do I feel so much despair?
I am generally very wary of AI in image creation. I like it when people ask me how I created an image and I get to tell them that I created it in reality, and then just took a photo of a real thing. In my work, however, I can see an application for this, and it is for background separation and replacement. When shooting on photo backdrops and backgrounds, adding extra space to the edges where equipment exists. That one function is something that I can immediately see would be useful for me.
You said it. Content Aware on steroids. Was actually saying it as you said it. I'm going to fool around with this the next couple of times I shoot sports to see what happens.
Also ice cutters lost their job due to refrigerators... should you give up that too?
Thanks!

Thank you!
I think there will be retouchers that will use this as a tool to get far better results than that wedding photographer would have gotten. I see it as a tool and if you have a really good understanding of its abilities and shortcomings you can do much better than a novice. A retoucher might try more prompts and more generations and that takes time. That’s the value added. I guess I’m expecting and hoping for better images moreso than lost jobs.
I think I need to forget about commercial photographic work and become a carpenter ....or plumber.
I am shook.
remember when " ill believe it when i see it" was a sort of a thing. well the pugs have flown. wowsza

"When pugs fly" is my new favorite expression.
WOW! That's all I got.
Is it possible to install it on Windows 7?

No idea. Check the system reqs in Creative Cloud. That being said, you should update your system to Windows 10, at least. It's much more stable.
It is a bit scary. I wonder how far it will go. I can definitely see a lot of use for this for myself, removing people, weird stuff, brand names, etc. I think I feel like you, I hate it and I love it.
HOLY MOLY.
@StudioBuilder

Yes! That's exactly what I said under the bleep.
To be honest I don't see to many people paying a subscription to photoshop to do this to there own photos, there are still alot of people who have no idea how to do the basics even if it's easy they'd still opt to have someone do it for them I personally know many, so I don't think it will put as many people out of business as much as one may think alot of people simply dont have the time to sit at a computer and use photoshop only those who love the art of photo manipulation I being one but only do so for fun not to make money so I do it to mybfriends photos for my own joy and for there's free of charge

Sure, at a consumer level, but at a commercial level, for advertising work, agency work, and marketing, it's going to have a massive impact.
I feel like you.. love and HATE
😶
my main problem, for now, is that they are using Stable Diffusion, and some of the quality of the generated stuff are just crap. MJ is much better but not open source. But it's a promising tool, but not production ready.
@StudioBuilder

They are not using Stable Diffusion. They have their own library.
