Charles Haughey visits the island of Inishturk off the coast of Mayo to officially switch on the electricity supply bringing power to the islander’s homes.
The Taoiseach arrived on the island in an Air Corps helicopter before switching on the ESB power supply. The new electricity generating station on the island means that inhabitants no longer have to rely on generators.
