Seriously gnarly art
This album hits real hard, one of the best DM records in 2023.
I was really shocked by this record. I recently found their debut and thought it was a cool and heavy hardcore-influenced OSDM record with a little extra spice, but this completely took me by surprise. The technicality, the atmosphere, the straight-up weirdness of it... I love it. I've only listened once, cause I left for vacation the next day, but I'll definitely be returning to it. Outer Heaven may have just shot to my top spot for modern OSDM, which I normally reserve for Creeping Death (that album was also quite good). Can't wait to see where they go from here! 🤘
Loved this Album Too!! A pleasant surprise. Another Album i Listen to Start to Finish NO SKIPS! I hit subscribe bc it looks like we have the same taste in music! 🖤
These dudes slay! Never heard of 'em until I read a pretty rad review of this album on AMG. Good stuff!
I’m intrigued, will check this out
Honestly thought this was gonna be The Zenith Passage review haha
My copy showed yesterday, can't wait to spin it.
Somehow I missed their debut, so I was coming into this album with no expectations. Holy 💩, took very little time for me to be totally blown away! Absolutely Album of the Year contender.
I was correct on the next review and this album is definitely one of the best in death metal and The Zenith Passage too man July this month has been great for Black and Death Metal
Thank you for the review! I am checking it out right now🤘🤘
Very cool stuff 😀😀
Hello! Could you review "Serpent Corpse"? It just came out. Thanks in advance & cheers from Belgium!
Crazy timing, I was just listening to their first record for the first time this morning! About to put this one on while I do yardwork….almost certainly gonna order the vinyl
I'd say cavalera has the best of this year with those recordings of morbid visions and bestial devastation unmatched so far. This fall will be the big unload of albums.
an absolute crushing release. I love everything about this. the feeling on this is so prevalent. Not bowing to those that pine for the Breakdown or Atmosphere. Tremendous
Guess I need to try this one again. I got about 3 songs deep and the vocals seemed annoyingly monotonous but to be fair I might have just been zoned out.
this year is gonna be amazing for death metal! CC, Cattle Decap, Obituary; Dethklok are back, Dying Fetus are dropping a new record, Deicide have something in the works, Dismember are workin on material, Morbid Angel and Nile as well. This gonna be fucking amazing
Definitely in my top 3 this year so far!
Tidy album for sure, thanks for the recommendation, however there are quite a few death metal albums that have been on repeat with me all year. 1. The Fallen Prophets - Perpetual Damnation. 2. Bloodgutter - Death Mountain. 3. SaintBreaker - Unrelenting Violence. 4. Seven Doors - Feast of the Repulsive Dead. 5. Wretched Fate - Carnal Heresy.
Gave this album a try yesterday. More "traditional" death metal is really not my thing, but I still enjoyed this quite a bit. Really good riffs and production throughout, and some nice experimental surprises here and there. Because this style of metal is inherently not my cup of tea, I wasn't in love with it and I don't see myself going back to it anytime soon, but it was still cool to try this with an open mind. Glad you're loving it yourself :)
Very impressed with the songwritting here. Its just a banger album in every regard.
I loved this album. I loved it even more than Outer Heaven’s debut which was also great. I think that this; the new Gorod, Nightmarer, Cattle Decapitation, Vomitory, Frozen Soul, Creeping Death, and Zenith Passage albums are the best death metal albums of the year so far.
It’s pretty good I like the more experimental moments of this record, I really do wish they would definitely go further that direction and maybe flesh out the influences. I didn’t love the more straightforward death metal tracks but still. This band has potential. Definitely not AOTY material to me but this band has a promising future imo. 3.5/5
What are the vocals like on this? They were what put me off the last album.
I've seen nothing but good reviews for this thing by metal KZreadrs yet the average Metalstorm score is only 6.9. Yes, I get that isn't a bad score and it only has like 10 votes but it still doesn't match the hype I'm seeing on KZread. I plan on listening to their debut album then this one straight after. Really loved the 2 tracks I've listened to.
I was hoping you were going to review the Zenith Passage album. I wasn’t fussed on this album.

New Zenith Passage is gpod but I found I just didn't have much to say about it beyond 'yep, its tech death'

@@themetalmeltdownofficial That’s fair enough, I guess I’m just more of a tech death head these days.
While I thought some of the songwriting got slightly one-dimensional after a while, this thing still kicks a healthy amount of ass. Also appreciating the psychedelic undertones a little more on a re-listen.
I thought it was... fine
You should either come up with some new thumbnail poses or stop using goofy thumbnail poses altogether 😄
