just play modded KSP if you want to explore planets with uhh warp drive mod thingies

this looks like the coziest shit to be honest, just going planet to planet and chilling out on a mulitplayer server. Nobody would ever find you on one of those small planets just because of how many there are.

These videos are great. Every time I see one in my feed, it’s instantly time to watch it. Whether there be commentary or not it’s been great to see this go from large flat plane to procedurally generated hilly landscapes with infinite space along with an infinite space featuring planets.

in theory yes, in practice it would be extremely janky and laggy because physics calculations on the client side can't be changed

it would probably be expensive in Lua, but it's very doable. you'd have to constantly reposition anything in the radius of the planet in accordance with gravity and change their angles to make sure their feet always point toward the center. This would get expensive with hundreds of entities on one planet.

congrats, you've built an entire universe in a sandbox game. bro is making better quality stuff than like major AAA studios in an outdated engine

its all technically in the same one spot so i dont know if you want to build too many things but yes it looks very fun. footage of many players on the map has shown lag with building many things because its still limited to source map size with just a infinite skybox you can traverse and save props throughout but all saved props would be in one same spot near you in the source map just not visible if your visually not near it but could possibly still being rendered idk for sure

The shear pototental of inf maps + any direction gravity is incredibly enticing. Gmod space program. Entire to scale solar system with realistic planet spin, orbits, and scales. Or, at least some multiple of them to keep things reasonable. Then you take that and organize a gmod sandbox server capable of handling an insane number of people and see what happens.

What is left of the Space build community thanks you for your efforts. Do you think this could be made CAF/LS3 compatible? Does it work with bigger space ships and/or more props?

do you think it would be possible/timely to make a "horizon" effect for the skybox? would look really nice in space, like if you were looking at a gigantic planet from orbit. I'm invisioning something that would be blue around the edges and look like you could see the horizon, and a mild greyish fog to hide the edges of the map. great work as always dude, this is incredible as it is, can't wait to see it developed even further.

Idk if it’s possible but you should try to give the map the same center of gravity that earth has so when you go far enough it’s a giant oval and you can’t fall off the earth no matter how far you go, you just go around. Also an atmosphere would be nice

Suggestions: mabie make the base infinite map "planet" render as a circle when you get far enough into space, and possibly disable gravity when you get far enough into space, and have different types of planets, like desert planets, ice planets, lush planets and others, but, i understand if it is not possible

@@Meetric1 I'm pretty sure that what the original commenter was trying to say would be that, instead of spawning the player onto an infinite plane, they get spawned onto a finite planet, and instead there's an infinite galaxy to explore

I think gbombs missiles are a great thing to add support to know that we have space in this map

Would be nicer if planets will have their own atmosphere, that means not seeing space from the surface of a planet, since they have trees and stuff, although they're still too tiny for that and that could be intentional. Overall this is awesome, the way you leave the "infinite map", but other planets seem to appear too soon in the sky

Hey just a suggestion, do you think you could make it where gravity is localized to the planets? Like localized gravity or walk on walls mod thingy. If you were able to do this then how bout then making the default planet or what ever you call it (the place you spawn at) its own planet, such as making it a sphere. Or have you already thought of this?
