It just now occurred to me: maybe the SCP 3008-2 instance followed the dude out of the IKEA was because he was carrying the IKEA notebook… because presumably he hadn’t paid for it, and it interpreted that as shoplifting. Dude very well might have died BECAUSE he had took the time to write it all down. Just a theory, who knows. It adds a nice bit of dramatic irony to the story if it’s true, though.

makes you wonder too, writer is good, doesnt waste words, were they explaining settlements sometimes fall with that one other one? or were they setting something up. the other settlement that fell was twice as big as the protags one, clearly something abnormal happened. could be more "accidental" inclusions of employee heads happen than initially thought. protags settlement stood for years it seems, but falls a few months after refugees from a fallen settlement come. could be one of them self sabotaged. could be a person or persons sagotaging, and they followed the refugees? trade seems open, just anyone could trade supplies, whos to say everyone who trades is stuck in the ikea, maybe a group of interest has an agenda? enough is answered and enough is left ambiguous, very well written

The Infinite Ikea is one of the best SCPs to start with because it perfectly shows the weird, unexplainable parts that makes SCP so interesting. I do think that Infinite Ikea is a great one to start with, especially since it focuses a lot on the logs and does a good job of balancing explaining the threat while also leaving room for further questions, but I still think that 173 should pretty much always be the first for any new fans. It's not very complicated and still gives the cold feel of the Foundation that lets a reader know what to expect when reading an article.

  • @FallenPears

On the whole 'apocalypse drama conflict' thing, I've heard that in actual real life disasters your common person is actually pretty good about working together and helping each other. Actual problems more often crop up from people at the top, who when things are falling apart are desperately trying to maintain their previous level of power and resources at the cost of everyone else. I'm sure it's a lot more complicated than that, but nice to see something to that effect in this SCP.

It keeps the old single classification under its original concept as "how easy is it to contain" but adds some new categories. Volgun has a video on it from 2 years ago when it was being tested out. Sure they are a bit dated, and nobody writes new SCPs like them anymore, but they embody what the Fondation was all about when it came around. After that, maybe check out the thousand ones, like SCP-1000, 2000, 3000 and so on. Big, important-to-note ones that have quite a bit of story and creativity to them.

30:00 It's the Multiverse. This glitched-out platonic ideal Ikea isn't just hooked up to every Ikea in the universe of the SCP foundation, it's connected to _every Ikea across the multiverse._ The Foundation just plugged _their_ hole in a very big warren. That's how people keep wandering in. The SCP universe's natives don't disappear anymore, but people from other universes still do.

Like where did they get the budget for this???) and it's basically about some scp task force/ soldiers from the scp foundation going to investigate an unknown anomaly in a cabin. You basically get to see the pov of what the soldiers who's job it is to contain these things and it is SO COOL!

I always theorized that he was able to find the exit because he specifically wasnt looking for it for the first time. My assumption was that the group was attacked and he was leading one of them away from the group. And because he wasnt planning on escaping the exit finaly materialized. Its like the other sightings of the exit, those people that saw it probably werent thinging about exiting at that time, only looking for supplies or something else. But when they saw the exit they desired it again and the store moved it away from them again. It only lets you leave when you are content with staying there forever

Volgun just goes through the entry but he does a fantastic job and it gives you the whole thing. While other channels tell a bit more of a story they sometimes skip things or invent stuff to make their intended narative work or their structure doesn't convey the mystery/fear the same way. They still do a good job but Volgun gives you the same experience as if you read it yourself except voice acted.

One down from my list but I'm sure you'll jump on another instead 096: Probably the second most famous, but also probably exceeding 173 because of the awesome short film based on him. Amazing watch. 173: Probably the most famous SCPs, and the originator of the blinking mechanic in the games. 179: A really good Thamiel class and one of my favorites from how enigmatic she is but still a benevolent force that is looking out for the Earth, not just humanity. 999: Just a great Safe class that will bleach you from the rest of these. 2173: Another great Thamiel class that is seemingly silly, but also a lens on the hubris of the Foundation, while also show casting the good they could do if they stopped pussyfooting about ethics. Also you should read up on the Gate Guardian proposal of 001 before this one for some much needed context. -3008: The Infinite Ikea, a strange and seemingly silly SCP that is actually haunting.- 3041: A knife . . . that shows that just because something is classified as safe doesn't mean it is. 4043: A rare example of the Archon class. It is also a great example of an SCP that breaks the conventions in a brilliant way to tell a tragic but hopeful story. 4051: A frustrating story about why the neutrality of the Foundation does way more harm than good. Even with a perfectly willing to help and, frankly, overpowered SCP just flops into their lap and they still fuck it up. 7034: A terrifying SCP that's told mainly through the perspective of one Foundation scientist.

Then the lights shut off and you hear in a distant distorted voice behind you: “the store is closed. Exit the building immediately” and you turn around to barely see in the dark, a 9ft faceless humanoid with grossly long arms sprinting at you in the distance like a rabid dog chasing a squirrel, knocking over shelves and lamp stands as it travels toward you at full speed, it being MUCH faster than you and you have no where to go since the exit is probably thousands of miles in any direction, just you hopeless and alone with meatballs and employees trying to rip you limb from limb

28:19 It really all depends on the group of people and individual personalities you happen to get stuck with. Someone who expects discord and is distrustful or is sociopathic is going to rock the boat more than the majority of people. And a psychopath in the mix can go either way, either promoting cooperation to ensure their own survival or making a power grab for their own gratification and security. The size of the group matters as well, the larger the group the more work it takes to work as a cohesive unit but the smaller the group there is more work and risk for each member and loosing even one person can be a devastating blow. It’s a whole fascinating branch of anthropology and psychology to think about.

There was a shower in one of the buildings at my old job. It was so you could wash the sweat and grease off so you didn’t track it in your car and house, and you could change out of your nasty clothes. You could shower on the clock as long as you were quick, and save money on your own water bill. The company had even provided anti-grease soap and shampoo. As of me working there, it was dysfunctional from nonuse, as the building was turned from a factory into storage and nobody knew it was there anymore. I explored it on break, and while it was commercial simple, it would have been a godsend if it worked. Going home refreshed after a nice hot shower instead of dead tired and hating life. It would have saved me buying seat covers every month and cleaning kits for my car, too. It’s a huge perk that a lot of people demonize as greed. The company’s founder deeply cared for his thousands of employees, as he built the company with his bare hands, but his son inherited it after he passed and ran it into the ground while flaunting his inherited wealth. Also, Singer, the sewing company, made 1911 handguns in World War 2. Even today, they’re the most precise handgun on the planet, and are valued between $30-40k.

And instances of 049-2 could deal with the 3008-2s, providing the doctor with potential subjects, if the "staff" are close enough to humans for him... And, if not, the humans that are already stuck in there. If he is to ever reach an actual, fully functional cure, he needs to keep experimenting and this way... Nobody gets hurt. We'll... Nobody that wouldn't already have gotten hurt sooner or later by being in 3008 anyway. He would have access to beds, shelves, subjects... Everything he needs.
