    @@MCmclovin22 the issue wrong with that statement is is requires you to have trust in the men who have you the bible. For 300 years after Christ, we didn't have a Bible. They replied on the church Christ established to answer questions. The issue with Sola scriptura (scripture alone) is it leads to misinterpreting. It's like a kid with a math book saying "math book alone". I don't need the teacher to help me read it. Especially in these hard to understand parts.

    Our high priest forever is Jesus Christ, he is the only one who intercedes for us. Christ is who we must go to and not men. “The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints a Son, made perfect forever.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7‬:‭23‬-‭28‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

    Our middle man is God himself. Jesus Christ’s name is The Father’s. Father, Son, Holy Spirit are one and He’s the only true living God. We need Jesus Christ because He took all the sins of those who Believe in His name which is God’s name through Faith based on the Promise made to Abraham. Through that Promise there is salvation, salvation from what? Eternal separation from God (Hell) truthfully hell isn’t fire and what not, it is just void of emptiness and weeping and gnashing of teeth for all eternity because your soul will cry out to God and God will not remember you forever. Why are we separated from God? because Humanity disobeyed God and handed over the earth and everything God made for man to the Devil and now the devil not only enslaves us but separates us from God with our pointless everyday lives not knowing or seeking God because of Sin. The moment Man sinned, We were separated by ourselves because God is Holy and we are not so we no longer see Him, Know Him, Seek Him or want Him. Jesus Christ allows us to not only Choose Life, but we Choose God once more and we are sanctified, and made righteous through Faith in Him and not only that but He gives us a new heart and a new spirit that allows us to Know God, Seek God Love God, and call Him Father because we are His sons and daughter lost to Sin and separation from Him in Darkness. God not only wants to save you but wants to call us Son only if we choose Him that’s why He gave us Free will and He will not invade that otherwise God would be a Liar. God bless both of you with the opportunity to Choose Him and come to Him and remain with Him in Jesus Christ’s name Amen.

    @@robertajaycart3491 Well Jesus was an expert on the Jewish scriptures. And who is the one talking in Revelation 1:3? Are you trying to make a case against the new testament or something? The gospels are eyewitness accounts which were inspired to be written down. Pauls writings were inspired to be written down and preserved like all the other books by God for 2000 years for us to learn from. They gel seamlessly with the old testament. The catholic church didn't like people reading Gods word for themselves because of the control they could have and the biggest jump in knowledge of God came when people risked their lives to print copies of the Bible which greatly upset the catholic church and lead to the increase in protestantism. This guy is obviously an apologist for erroneous catholic teachings and practices. So its no surprise to meet you here. You should probably read Jesus words in Mathew 7. Notice how we would have so much less of Jesus without the scriptures which speak of Him? Read His word and BELIEVE. REPENT. Follow Him not the pope.

    @robrob What did Christ leave us a church or a book? Being their is no table of contents in the Bible, Who decided which books in the Bible were considered infallible and how do you know which books are infallible. You say, the Catholic church didn't want people to read the Bible but how could they, the majority of people in the first 4 centuries were illiterate, they couldn't read. So now everyone has a Bible and how many Protestant churches are their now and the number keeps growing and you all fight amongst yourselves and have no unity, but yet Christ calls for this unity amongst all Christians. So it's no surprise to meet you here, your the ones trolling Catholic sites. I read his word, Christ started a church and gave his authority to his church. And before the Reformation, Christians were either Catholic or Orthodox, not Protestant. Erroneous teachings that many are found in Scripture.

    @@robertajaycart3491 no. You don't get to bash the Bible. Not answer what I said. And then try to take some sort of credit for the catholic church as if that justifies the heresies the catholic church has and still is responsible for. Scripture is inspired. It is given from God to whomever and whenever He sees fit for His purposes. The fact that the catholic church was involved at all at any point in time with this process should humble and instill awe and gratefulness. It was a crown that was taken off and trampled. That gift has been abused and twisted to form the catholic canon and you want to take pride in this fact? I repeat. Repent.

    @robrob I first prayed about it and then after the Holy Spirit led me to Catholicism. I did 10 years of research. Christ didn't leave us a Bible, he left a church, it's obvious from Scripture. So now everyone has a Bible and interprets it to each individual person sees to suit his need. Sola Scriptura or Bible alone has created nothing but division and this is the tough part, Sola Scriptura is not taught anywhere in the Bible. Especially when Christ calls for unity amongst Christians but it's Protestants who refuse unity with Catholics or unity with other Protestant groups. John 17:21 so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.m

    Absolutely false. Nowhere in Gods word does it teach the practice of indulgences. The Council of Trent came up with this as an infallible teachings. The Old Testament scripture that they stake their claim on concerning indulgences come from the fact that under the Mosaic Law, a person could offer a sacrifice for their sin and they would be forgiven, however not every sin had a sacrifice. For example if by the testimony or 2 or 3 witnesses, if a man and a woman were caught committing adultery or someone was convicted of premeditated murder, they were to be executed- stoned to death there was no sacrifice or forgiveness of this sin. When Jesus Christ came to this earth, died for our sins and rose from the dead 3 days later then ascended into heaven, we were no longer under the law but under grace. That doesn’t mean we have freedom to sin but rather now an individual might find forgiveness of sin all sin if they repent and accept Christ as their savior. A murderer today, if they realize their lost state as a sinner and come to Jesus for forgiveness and salvation will indeed be forgiven of all of their sin including murder, that doesn’t mean if he is caught and convicted and sentenced to death that he won’t have to face the consequences for his actions and face mans justice for his crime. Or if a person sleeps with someone ( who they are not married to) and that person has a STD, but the person repents of it and is forgiven, they might still have to face the consequences of contracting the STD. So in short only God can choose whether or not a repentant sinner faces any temporal consequences and punishment for their sin. The church doesn’t have that authority.

    @@Muhbelly Then what did Jesus give to the Apostles. What does it mean to bind and loose something not only on Earth but also in Heaven? The Church has the literal authority of Jesus Christ, of God Himself, to do in His place what He did during His life on Earth and to decide in His place what to do, that's literally what it means to bind or to loose something. Jesus gives the Authority to forgive sins in John 20:21-23 to the Apostles something only God can apparently do, yet here they are given this ability (or better said Authority to do so). He gives them the Authority to do so many things which normally speaking only God can do like forgive sins. If Jesus gives them the Authority to do what only God can, does that not literally answer your question? That they do indeed have the Authority to do these things and so the logical conclusion is that they have the Authority to confer grace unto people, in His place as He Himself wished has willed "I WILL give you the authority...". To bind and loose things in Heaven and Earth. The Church is given the Authority to do things which normally only God can do, something the Early Church Fathers like Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus of Lyon, Origen, Cyprian of Carthage etc. all affirm. Seems pretty decisive to me. I'll belief in the words of the Lord and His chosen Apostles and their successors.

  • @Muhbelly

    @Muhbelly

    @@t_ogaming4881 In this verse, Jesus is speaking directly to the apostle Peter and indirectly to the other apostles. Jesus’ words meant that Peter would have the right to enter the kingdom himself, that he would have general authority symbolized by the possession of the keys, and that preaching the gospel would be the means of opening the kingdom of heaven to all believers and shutting it against unbelievers. The book of Acts shows us this process at work. By his sermon on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:14-40), Peter opened the door of the kingdom for the first time. The expressions “bind” and “loose” were common to Jewish legal phraseology meaning to declare something forbidden or to declare it allowed. Peter and the other disciples were to continue Christ’s work on earth in preaching the gospel and declaring God’s will to men and they were armed with the same authority as He possessed. In Matthew 18:18, there is also a reference to the binding and loosing in the context of church discipline. The apostles do not usurp Christ’s lordship and authority over individual believers and their eternal destiny, but they do exercise the authority to discipline and, if necessary, excommunicate disobedient church members. When the apostles “bound” something, or forbade it on earth, they were carrying out the will of God in the matter. When they “loosed” something, or allowed it on earth, they were likewise fulfilling God’s eternal plan. In both Matthew 16:19 and 18:18, the syntax of the Greek text makes the meaning clear: “Whatever thou mayest bind upon the earth shall be having been bound in the heavens, and whatever thou mayest loose upon the earth shall be having been loosed in the heavens” (Matthew 16:19, Young’s Literal Translation). Or, as the Amplified Bible puts it, “Whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth will have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth will have [already] been loosed in heaven.” Jesus taught that the apostles had a special task on earth. Their words of authority, as recorded in the New Testament epistles, reflect God’s will for the church. When Paul declared an anathema on those who pervert the gospel, then we know that anathema was already declared in heaven (see Galatians 1:8-9). As far as grace is concerned, we can all extend grace to others; but when the word grace is used in connection with God, it takes on a more powerful meaning. Grace is God choosing to bless us rather than curse us as our sin deserves. It is His benevolence to the undeserving. Is this the kind of grace that you’re saying the church has the ability to confer upon people?

    Why don’t you open up your KJV Bible (which had several books removed from the original KJV 1611) to 1 Corinthians 3:15, where it plainly alludes to Purgatory. “If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” There you go, someone who is saved but only as by fire. This means fire cannot only be for the damned.

    Where in the Bible are temporal and eternal sins, explained? OMG, this priest just diminished what Christ did on the cross and then added grace(s) to what Christ already paid for on the cross. This is WHY it is so important to actually READ the bible and not get an oral presentation from any priest. Christ paid for ALL of Mankind's sin on the cross past, present, and future. GOD is omnipotent, omnipresent and sovereign. HE knows what sins we will commit at any point in time because he is outside of time. GOD is in the past, present, and future timelines at the same time. This is how he can manipulate events to bring forth His kingdom and provide for us as well. When a Believer sins, all that is needed is for that person is to pray the Lord's prayer and ask for forgiveness routinely. Becoming a Christian is a life long process and it takes time to learn to be an imager of GOD. Adding things to GOD's Word is heretical. I'm glad my Great Grandparents left R.C.'s after getting into an argument with the Priest and went to the nearest local Protestant Church for better teaching on how to become a Christian and receive eternal life.

Its a weapon🤗 Hebrews 4:12 ESV For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. John 10:27-28 ESV Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. Hebrews 10:26 ESV For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Example if you damaged someone's car you say that you are sorry but you are expected to pay to cover the cost of repairs. If you forfeit that payment then the victim can demand justice and sue you. God's justice is not one and the same as His forgiveness. We can be forgiven but justice must be rendered at some point.

    No, if you watched the video instead of the short, you would learn that the act of indulgence is for strengthening one’s character and development after sin is forgiven, but has no effect on whether or not you go to heaven… the church doesn’t offer passage to heaven for money, they offer post sin therapy for spiritual strengthening similar to how you have to do exercises after surgery. Unnecessary, but they help and are beneficial to do. The church has never taught that you pay your way to heaven…

    @jaxfernandez3684

    3 ай бұрын

    @@ico9879 no… in no part of my comment did I mention jack about people who have passed away or “paying” for their sins. The exercises or “indulgences” are for personal benefit only to be done in your free time to strengthen yourself and your moral fiber/character. Indulgence isn’t just giving alms, but it is also other acts like praying and fasting. It doesn’t matter where the money goes, whether it be to a Catholic Church or a Protestant church or a local charity, a poor person alms is alms. Prayer is important as well so as to remain in contact with our Father. Fasting reminds us to be humble and to not be attached to worldly things for the only real thing in this world is God himself. “Indulgence” is, in other words “indulging” in the acts of Christ. I indulge in the suffering he did in the desert by fasting, I give the last of my funds for the sake of a good cause (like the lady who gave her last Pennies to Christ), I indulge in my relationship with God and Christ by praying to Him. The root word is INDULGE. In other words, indulging is engaging in acts that strengthens oneself by aligning oneself with acts that Christ himself might have done, and this strength allows you to fight on and resist and run away from temptation and sin. It is the personal growth that saves one from eternal damnation by making the habit of choosing God (because in the end our acts we have done in life are the proof of whether or not we have chosen Christ) over the distractions that satan puts in our face, not the act itself. That is why simply believing in Christ isn’t enough, but to allow Christ to work through you and allowing yourself to be an agent of Christ. That is what an indulgence is. Now some idiot priests in the past may have explained it wrong, for example: “if you give Alms to the church, you are engaging in an act of indulgence, and are on the path to being saved,” can be interpreted as “pay money get to heaven.” What he actually meant to say was “the personal growth you gain by letting go of an earthly thing like money will make you stronger in the long run and enable you to choose Christ over evil things or the distractions of this world. It’s better to let go of it now when you can send if off to benefit OTHERS (not necessarily the church but perhaps other people in need) instead of holding it to oneself and becoming enslaved by excess and greed.” Indulgence is and has always been about PERSONAL GROWTH in the Catholic Church, not payment for heaven/salvation. Remember: an indulgence can be an act of prayer, or giving something up (a vice perhaps), or giving alms. The Catholic church never limited people’s ability to do any of these things or said “you can only achieve salvation through paying money” it has always been “your journey with Christ is unique, but if you work on specific attributes of yourself and make good habits, it makes the journey much easier. It doesn’t guarantee heaven, but it will make you stronger.” It is only through choosing Christ that one can be saved, but acts of indulgence strengthen one’s character by formulating habits that allow us to push away evil and accept Christ over the distractions of this world. Defending the faith is also a form of indulgence. Anything you do for God is an indulgence. It isn’t about money, it’s about habit forming. That’s what indulgence is. You can just as easily replace indulgence with “engaging in acts of Christ” as you are “indulging” in the good things he has done and opening yourself up to his influence by forcing yourself to act as he would in whatever situation you find yourself in… which can be very hard for many people. The more you indulge/exercise in doing God’s work, the easier it becomes (relatively speaking, persecution will always be there to deal with). The less you do it, the more you succumb to moral cowardice or just “live and let live” mentality or stagnation in one’s faith. It is similar to the story of the one who built his house on the foundation of stone vs sand. There are those who have tested themselves and who have fought the good fight to build a good foundation for themselves so they can become efficacious warriors for Christ, and then there are those who’s faith is built on sand: the Christians in name only, the ones who don’t follow his teachings but are mere “fans” of Jesus. You know who I’m talking about. Indulgence is an exercise in personal moral fortitude to prevent oneself from becoming weak in their faith. If you never face the fire, you will never temper your steel. If you never fight evil, you will become weak to it. Think of any act that Jesus would do… I know I know it’s corny “what would Jesus do…” but for real, in Catholic teaching, if anytime you find yourself asking this question before acting, your next act you are about to do in whatever situation you’re in is more likely than not to be a form of indulgence. That is the true definition cut and dry in Catholicism of what an Indulgence is. Not payment, growth and strengthening of character through repentance and acting as Christ would in whatever situation you find yourself in. And following Christ’s example… is the very essence of Christian belief. Therefore, indulgence (in its proper, un-perverted definition) is an essential part of Christian life (you more likely than not have already engaged in an act of indulgence. If you keep the commandments you are doing indulgence and that’s the bare minimum 😂.”

    Not for arguments sake but for a cure to my curiosity, may I ask then where in scripture we find this temporal consequence? Yes it is logical, but in Job this is brought up by a friend of Jobs. And God condones this man for saying that what is happening to him is because of something Job did. Obviously we are not all in this situation, but it is fair to say that we differ because of sin whether it’s ours or not, and the lessening isn’t dependent on what we do but dependent on the Sovereignty of God? As when people said the blind man was blind because of his or his parents sin, and Jesus says it is not because of his sin or his parents specifically? I ask for sake of curiosity rather than argument. I’m happy to hear y’all’s thoughts on this subject!

    Outrageous! Indulgence was money and power motivated (To buy then a "note" to feel less guilty that is, lol). The only way we can absolve our temporary consequences for our sins is to examine carefully how Jesus Christ had done so or taught us so. Christian should know that it is given that we would go through hardships or pains because of Persecutions and From Sins. And God equipped us with intellectual intelligence, emotional intelligence which has awareness, memory, conscience, and as well as abilities and talents along with personal experiences and other people's experience and infos that are on this world and material resources. Would you think God wants us to personalize our relationship to him utilizing these. And you cannot just pay money to relieve ourselves from the consequences of our sins, this is not the gospel or doctrine or teaching of our Jesus Christ. It a man-made. It is so sad to say but it is another useless ritual of the Roman Catholics. God bless!

    The sacrifice of being made to be sin is when he wields the fiery sword guarding the way to the Tree of Life on the day of vengeance AS judgment. Jesus is with you always, until the end of the ages, when the sacrifice is made. Satan, Lucifer, David, the Morning Star is the cornerstone of his work of salvation. He has been here since Christ began his work as the first Adam. The way of the Lord in the desert needs to be put into context with the previous passage: Sacrifice: -Indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins. (Isa 40:2 NABO) Resurrection: -Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! (Isa 40:3 NABO) Just as it is appointed that human beings die - be judged - appear a second time, (so also Christ) Heb 9:27-28.

    @TheLexGamer The interesting thing, Christ never told anyone to write any of this down. Then before the written Scriptures their was the Oral Tradition. And if you read scripture, Christ didn't leave a book, Christ passed his authority to his church. The Canon of Scripture was decided in 382 by a Pope. Many of the Apostles followed the Didache The original Bible was the Vulgate Bible. The doctrines and many of the dogmas are found in Scripture. But their is also Oral Tradition, Scripture & Tradition go hand in hand. Oral Tradition are not found in scripture like what did the early church believe and taught. Like baby baptism, the early church taught this even though is not explicit in the Bible. Then who's Bible, the Catholic Bible which has more books than the Protestant Bible, the King James Version was designed by King Henry VIi. Because he didn't like the Catholic Bible. It was Luther who took books out of the Bible.. Being their is no table of contents in the Bible, who decided which books were infallible and how do Protestants know which ones are?

    There is no evidence to suggest that the Roman Catholic Church has any direct involvement with the porn industry. In fact, the Catholic Church has been known to speak out against pornography and its harmful effects on individuals and society. However, there have been instances of individuals within the Catholic Church being involved in illegal or immoral activities, including some cases of sexual abuse. These incidents are not representative of the church as a whole, and the vast majority of Catholics and clergy members condemn such actions. It's important to note that the porn industry is a complex and multifaceted industry that involves many different individuals and organizations. While there may be some individuals who identify as Catholic who work in the industry, it is not accurate to say that the Catholic Church as an institution is involved in or supports the porn industry.
