Hi there Is it true if you take temperature above cherry red colour 1400 to 1490 degrees when induction brazing will it damage carbide. I use carbide drill bits for drilling in porcelain tiles Regards richard

No this is not true. The only way to braze carbide to steel shanks effectively is to heat them to the 1400-1500 F range in order to allow the braze alloy to flow and bond the mating parts

@@rdoinduction so if you go above 1500 Fahrenheit it can damage the carbide

@@mudbrains4881 Carbide will start to break down at temperatures above 1650 F as you will start to soften the binder metals at these temperatures.

@@rdoinduction hi there That is exactly the information I was looking for Thanks very much indeed Like I said these drill bits are for drilling in porcelain tiles I am trying to produce carbide drill bits specifically for drilling holes in porcelain tiles as there is nothing on the market which is a good quality The grade of carbide being used is called YG6 in China the equivalent is I think federal carbide FC3 or US INDUSTRY CODE C2 I would like to communicate with you by email for more information about what I am looking at doing if you don’t mind My email is. info@crossbowtools.com. I am based in Australia I’d appreciate it if you are able Regards richard
