    Love it, Byron, I think it's great that you actually not just talked about what you are doing but the paint properties as well. There are die-hard fans when it comes to paints that tend to stick with certain paint brands and at times consider using another brand for a specific need so anything that helps make an informed choice and informs of the properties of the paints is always good. Love the end result on the model looking forward to seeing you tackle the larger models and whatever schemes you come up with for them next. Would love to see a purple or blue weapons glow and would really like to see some NMM painting of these guys in some of the lesser NMM painted metals copper brass etc...

    That looks cool, I like the little hints of rust in between the panels, looks really good, and here is one for a future necron scheme, copper necrons! Could look really cool with maybe blue glowing bits!

    Hey dude, sorry for the late reply! I always try to reply to everyone, but I must have missed it🙄. Perhaps the delay here won't be too bad, as we actually recently added exactly my set up to the AO site! Airbrush wise I use an Iwata CoP Infinity/Evolution (artisan/workhorse), my compressor is both Artisan & Workhorse, and is approaching 15 years old and still going strong, I use an Iwata Smart jet Pro, but for a little more you can get a smart jet plus, which has a tank. It's an investment... but given that I think I've used my compressor for 3000-4000 hours (genuinely) and it is still a beast I can't say it wasn't worth it, I've never once considered replacing it, or had an issue :). (Airbrushe compressors here: store.artis-opus.com/collections/airbrushes) If you have any more questions about other options, or want to know what I'd get for a certain budget feel free to ask! YT isn't great for replying to replied posts, so if you ask in a new video I'm less likely to miss it. Apologies for the delay again!

    Great, really great. Can I ask about the varnishing. I'm using dry rust effects like this, and they look fantastic. But it becomes a problem when wanting to varnish as every varnish I've tried turns the dry rust darker and wetter looking. Hairspray nearly works, but still darkens the rust, especially the pigment powders.

  • @ArtisOpus

    @ArtisOpus

    3 жыл бұрын

    Why do you need to varnish dude? If it's just for a long life on the gaming table I'd varnish, and then use the rust techniques: they're in the recesses, so won't get any fingers on them. My armies stopped being varnished when I stopped using metal minis, and they've not suffered too much, on a few occasions though I have done exactly the above, even doing my final metal highlight after varnishing, for example :) Obviously if you're using lots of pigments I completely get the varnish: applying them with a pigment fixer may be one way to help... I'm not an expert here though!

  • @LeeHobbies

    @LeeHobbies

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ArtisOpus Yeah, I'm ok with 40k type models, but I'm also making gates for gaslands as well as gaslands vehicles where the whole thing is basically pigment and it absolutely needs fixing. I've used Vallejo pigment binder and that also darkened the light dry rust. I do still varnish most of my 40k models, this is largely as I reduce the paints to a minimum and speed paint (spray, drybrush, wash, detail, done), and the varnish is where I make the decision regarding how matt or shiny I want the model. My tyriands are shiny, my maries pretty flat etc. On the table, I think glossy looks best as there's little light to reflect from gaming mats and the gloss black looks so much darker than any black with a matt finish. Not solved the issue of fixing dry rust though, it eludes me. Thanks for your reply :]
