I played it for like 10 minutes, then uninstalled it, as it was basically a graphically overhauled Facebook game from 2011. The game has some passion put into it, but feels like marketing took over long ago.

All he did was take existing technology, make it look pretty, then slapped his logo on it to justify charging the customers 500-700 times what it's market value actually was and 1,000 times as much as it cost to manufacture. The iPod wasn't even close to being the first mp3 player on the market, nor was the iPhone the first smart phone. They were just better marketed and more aesthetically designed than the competition.

The guy was already found guilty in court and even if he got 'half' of what the maximum penalty was (20 years per offense in some cases it seems) he would be jailed for at least 100 years. Scammers often prey on exactly the people that can't put things like this together. Like those emails with horrible spelling and grammar that promise you can make $10,000/month from home by shipping packages or some nonsense. If the person is gullible enough to believe an email like that despite the obvious red flags, the scammers know the person probably won't question anything if they think they're going to make money.

The thing is that those micro-transactions are completely optional. They're garbage through and through but you, the adult, the *educated* consumer, are the one who has to make the final decision on whether or not you want to pay for them. Otherwise you can just download the game and play at a disadvantage. He's not feeding anything but himself with the sponsorship money. I get that it gets likes and internet points for looking at a f2p mobile gacha game and pointing out the obvious loot box mechanics in them, though, so you carry on with that.

For those of you wondering what happened to Jeffrey Batio, here is the final outcome of the court case: "Jeffrey Allen Batio, 52, is charged in Madison Circuit Court 4 with burglary, a Level 5 felony carrying up to six years in prison, and theft, a Level 6 felony with a maximum 30-month sentence." The bellend got 8 years for what he did. Should have got more, but good to see him go down.
