    @@TheCaptainSplatter If you use it with the Lets Go games on the switch, you do in fact throw it. Theres a strap attached that you use to keep it in place and it has a motion sensor that tracts its movement as you do a throwing motion (but don't actually let go) and the game tracks the motion to see if hit the Pokemon. If you use it with Go it just functions as a Pokemon Go Plus, however if you import a Pokemon from Lets Go into it and then use it with Go, you get various small bonuses in Lets Go.

    Even if they didn't have their own product they still would have shut it down. I've already heard that profit free fan games got taken down because of them so of course they would shut down something that actually would make a profit for someone else.

    Probably! or, what I think anyway, they didn't think of having the physical ball yet or Niantic, maybe even their own engineers told them it's not feasible. Cut to that Kickstarter blowing up and making the rounds of a bunch of gaming sites. Someone, probably someone at Nintendo of America, sees it. Geta in contact with Nintendo HQ and while they're drafting up papers to DMCA the Kickstarter. Someone acknowledges that the ball would be an instant success and make a stupid amount of money. So they start negotiating with those people. Ask them to take down the Kickstarter, because that's happening regardless, and they have a prototype of a toy they wanted to make anyway. Now if you were to ask why the deal didn't go through... My speculation would be that they were offered a pittance of what it was worth. Basically insulting their intelligence. This is the most favorable way I see things going down as far as Nintendo being dicks. What is more likely, because it's happened to quite a few others, tho not a Nintendo's hand. What is more likely is that Nintendo, under the guise of checking out the prototype, asked to borrow it to show other executives. Which would give them time to take it apart. Photograph it. Make notes of all the components if necessary. Then again I'm probably giving these people WAY too much credit and the prototype might be so easy to put together any experienced electronic toy engineer could slap it together in a weekend. This has just been my and friends experience dealing with large corporations. So I could be completely wrong on all counts... But I doubt it

    I was one of the lucky ones when it came to the AR Pokeball. I was so excited to have a device that I could use to throw real pokeballs at my pokemon. I decided just for the heck of it to check how the campaign was doing on [what I didn't realize was] the final day the Kickstarter was up for and noticed all the changes that had happened from the [essentially] cease and desist they got from Nintendo on the project. I ended up just cancelling my backing status, but I feel bad for those who ended up not checking within the final days of this project only to be duped into a product they didn't actually want.

    Nah, the pokeball plus was in development before these guys had their idea, it just wasn't public yet. There were other attempts for go things and balls nintendo stopped that weren't on kickstarter. While the patent for pokeball plus came later, nintendo held trademarks and patents on concept devices and pokeball in general well before. Its just a case of similar obvious ideas. Also Atomicloli most people got the ball for go, rather than for the switch game. It has some additional features and works better than the wrist strap. Pokemon in the ball can spin stops for you while you are doing other things, and that alone is worth it for the pokemon go groups.

  • @2003041

    @2003041

    Problem is the Pokeball Plus is just a glorified GO+ Wristwatch or GOTCHA Watch: it only spins stops and catches pokemon with a press of a button or automatically (if you know how to set it up). The only way to throw a pokeball with the Pokeball Plus is through the Let's Go series for the Switch, which is a shame for how well this actually works.

    Protip: one of the best controller-related investments you can make, if you ask me, is Mayflash's Magic-NS adapter. If there's pretty much *any* console released in the past 15 years or so with a controller that you like using, chances are that controller's compatible and you can use it freely on XB1, PS3/4, Switch, or PC. And that timespan is even longer when daisy-chained with other adapters like the ones Raphnet offers.

    Naw. I think they didn't want to be associated, in any way, with the inevitable disaster. People running after pokeballs right into traffic, people getting hit and injured (don't ask me how, people always find a way), legal disputes and fights breaking out when people lise their pokeballs on other people's private property and the owners no longer returning them after having to retrieve 50 of them within an hour after word got around a shiny was in their backyard, the works. The players of this game were bad enough when it only involved them going where they shouldn't go, making them launch projectiles would have been so much worse.

    I heavily dislike non first-party controllers. Every single one I've ever had has broken in at least a month or two. One, in fact, was so bad that it broke AS SOON as I started using it... And was naive at the time and bought another... It broke just as fast and I opened it up to find it was awful, dirty, and there were buttons on the board that weren't on the controller.

    Most of the time, 3rd-party controllers for consoles are made - and bought! - because they're cheaper than the originals. But thise sometimes high prices for the genuine article aren't always just a big money grabbing scheme. Still, people are always surprised that less money buys them less quality. Those knockoff manufacturers want to profit from the whole thing, too, after all... In order to get a good alternative controller, you usually have to spend money in the same ballpark as for the original one, and that kinda defeats the purpose. It only makes sense if these alternatives offer something unique (in addition to quality), like that 8bitdo SF30Pro that's shaped like a SNES controller.

I did order the other colour as well, but only got sent the purple one, got refunded but still wanted both 🤔 If anyone is wondering, 8bitdo make great 3rd party controllers well worth a serious look if you don't want an original.

    I got a Thrustmaster Xbox controller since I play racing games, and it's somewhat better built than an original one. Braided cable, rumble is a bit better and buttons are similar. The difference is the triggers, which require a lot more force, meaning that the hands get tired, but it works great for racing games (other games, not so much). The difference: the Thrustmaster was 20 euros cheaper, and frankly, I don't know why an original Xbox controller would cost any more.

    If possible, could you make an episode covering the "ALL Controller" project? The classic signs of a failed indiegogo/kickstarter campaign are as follows: Lack of proper updates on a consistent basis through social media (Facebook, twitter) and campaign pages (indiegogo, Kickstarter) of the controller. Delays citing failure in the molding for said controller. Lack of refunds even after following the directions provided by the prior campaign PR rep. Wireless dongle for the controller having to be shipped separately after the controller is out to connect to the PS4 and Xbone consoles as well as lack of word if the Switch will require the same wireless dongle or not.

    I've tried to combine some controllers when it makes sense but you can't combine all of them without ruining what made them work in the first place, there simply is a limit to that. :\ And who the hell only wants part of it, might as well just buy the individual controllers at that point or cut a gamepad in half instead. That Ball looked okay, really you'd want more to do with it other than Pokemon Go in the long run if it had been made. Full body VR is pretty cool but once you've added everything up together you could have bought a car heh. That credit card controller was just dumb, you just moved the problem of touch controls down a little off the screen. Plenty of good snap-on solutions out there despite their "bulk". Damn rain, he really wants to get to work. ;)
