"One Armed Scissor" is a track by At the Drive-In, a band renowned for their explosive energy and unique blend of post-hardcore, punk rock, and emo elements. Formed in El Paso, Texas, in 1994, At the Drive-In quickly gained a reputation for their frenetic live performances and thought-provoking lyrics. The band consists of Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals), Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar), Paul Hinojos (bass), Tony Hajjar (drums), and Jim Ward (guitar and keyboards), although lineup changes have occurred over the years.
Released in 2000 as part of their third studio album, "Relationship of Command," "One Armed Scissor" swiftly became one of At the Drive-In's most iconic songs. The track is known for its raw energy, intricate guitar riffs, and Bixler-Zavala's passionate, often cryptic lyrics. It encapsulates the band's ability to fuse aggression with melody, creating a sound that resonates with fans across various musical tastes. The song's title and lyrics have been a subject of much speculation and interpretation, adding to its mystique and allure. At the Drive-In's influence extends beyond their genre, impacting a wide range of artists and helping to shape the sound of modern rock music.

One Armed Scissor is an awesome song, but I have _never_ heard a more awesome opening track than "Arcarsenal." Pumps me up immediately. ATDI were one-of-a-kind.

4:29 is easily the best part for me. When I was a kid I saw this on some count down show on mtv in Australia where they just run through the charts and play a few seconds of song. Pretty sure i was theb searching for the mp3 so I could listen to the whole thing.

Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López. Not brothers. One of the best live shows ever.

Lots of good ones to pick from. Arcarsenal, Invalid Litter Dept, Napoleon Solo, Lopsided, Quarantined.

Verrrrry familiar with post-hardcore. But for her, as someone who isn't USED to hearing that. "Indie rock" is just an umbrella that post-hardcore/emo/punk/hardcore falls under. :) But yeah, I am pretty familiar with post-hardcore. Woudn't you say that this song is a little less post-hardcore and more math-rock overall? Cheers!
