Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is a 1989 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, from a story co-written by executive producer George Lucas. It is the third film in the Indiana Jones franchise. Harrison Ford reprises the title role and Sean Connery plays Indiana's father, Henry Jones, Sr. Alison Doody, Denholm Elliott, Julian Glover, River Phoenix and John Rhys-Davies also have featured roles. Set largely in 1938, Indiana searches for his father, a Holy Grail scholar, who has been kidnapped by Nazis.
After the mixed reaction to the dark Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Spielberg chose to compensate by completing the trilogy with a movie lighter in tone. During the five years between Temple of Doom and Last Crusade, he and executive producer Lucas reviewed several scripts before accepting Jeffrey Boam's. The filming locations included Spain, Italy, England, and Jordan.

Era of Movie Magic: We needed 10,000 rats, so we went to a rat breeder. 2012 Era: We need 10,000 rats, ctrl+v 10,000 times. CGI should be used like in the Dark Knight movies, where you need to watch the making to find out what was CGI. The only exceptions are spoofs or the Wilhelm scream.

Thanks for posting this video. 2 days ago I received in the mail my replica copy of the grail diary as seen in the last crusade movie. Last week I received my replica copy the grail cup. Im really pleased to have them as last crusade is one of my favourite Indy movies.
Good days of practical effects. It's more than just realism, actually shooting effects practically brings out artistic side oft lost in a CGI recreation.

That's why practical effects are 1000 times better. Real rats are more creepy than some CGI ants in Crystal Skull.

Yea but real rats are living organisms and there are laws that make it difficult to use animals in movies anymore :p Especially if there's a risk of them getting hurt. CGI animals aren't real and thus none gets hurt in films nowadays. Well except all the chickens and pigs that are killed to feed the film crew :d
Alison was actually 21 or 22 at the time so that's more extreme than odd.
Rats are awesome!
It was so cute seeing Alison gently dry one rat while Harrison gave another one kisses. I adore rats. Honestly if i didn't have cats i'd consider one as a pet.

That's the problem with movies these days. Just beacuse it's simpler to create something with CGI, it doesn't mean it's better. Yeah, some actors may not have the appetite to work with real rats/bugs/snakes but that's why they are called actors. They are proffesionals. Not just beacuse realism, but the actors can give a more believable performance, if there are real animals, locations etc...
there're too many vaudeville-like comedy moments and lines in LC. I remember thinking, THIS is Indiana Jones? Where's the edge?

no shit, george came up with the worst parts (young indy, why is he afraid of snakes? how did he get that scar and learn to use a whip???) and tried to veto all the good parts

I always found Last Crusade a bit lame and fatuous. I liked the Holy Grail theme and Connery but Crustal Skull is better imo
