Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Making of 1/4

Фильм және анимация

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is a 1989 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, from a story co-written by executive producer George Lucas. It is the third film in the Indiana Jones franchise. Harrison Ford reprises the title role and Sean Connery plays Indiana's father, Henry Jones, Sr. Alison Doody, Denholm Elliott, Julian Glover, River Phoenix and John Rhys-Davies also have featured roles. Set largely in 1938, Indiana searches for his father, a Holy Grail scholar, who has been kidnapped by Nazis.
After the mixed reaction to the dark Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Spielberg chose to compensate by completing the trilogy with a movie lighter in tone. During the five years between Temple of Doom and Last Crusade, he and executive producer Lucas reviewed several scripts before accepting Jeffrey Boam's. The filming locations included Spain, Italy, England, and Jordan.
The film was released in North America on May 24, 1989 to near universal critical acclaim. It was a financial success making $474,171,806 at the worldwide box office.

I love how River has the same facial expressions as Harrison Ford did- he even delivered the line "This belongs in a museum!" the same way! He was such a great actor for his age, it was too bad he died so young.

james williams 80s, to be honest... Was A very different era, for everybody and for Spielberg. People had more patience, and people, in entertainment at least, where very open to weird ideas, like E.T. That, if it where to be made today, would be cheesy as hell with bad child actors and it would have to be PG. The times truly changed. And. That's one factor. Another Factor is, Steven is 69 years old. He isnt as young now, as he was in the 80s and 90s, so he doesn't have time to do everything he did. But, hes not going to leave us. His 80s movies plus Jaws, were great! His 90s movies were good, with some hicups, and his movies from the 2000s were, few, but great. And you cant forget his contributions to TV. And, Im shore, he will do great again. Seen Bridge of Spies? Great! Not as good as we are acustemed to, but, if it was another guy, we would praise him until he droped Dead. And, not only that, but hes Working on the BFG, A.K.A., attack on titan for children, a novel adaptation, wich i can't Remember, but sounds great, about people living in a videogame utopia, and Indy 5. And, you know, the future looks bright!............. for movies. Everything else will go to hell im shore.

I really don't like Temple of doom because two of the main characters are cute but annoying, screaming all the way through the movie and story is unfamilier unlike the ark of the Covenant, holy grail, and aliens. Im sry, but I honestly cant understand how can ppl like Kingdom of the Crystal Skull so much...I thought it was absolutely horrible movie....Temple of Doom was clearly the weakest of the first 3, but even that was SO much better than anything in that shitty 4th movie...to me it doesnt even exist, I just bought the first 3 movies seperately on Blu-ray, instead of buying the collection-edition with the 4th movie. To me Kingdom goes into the same trash category as 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie and Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, and Episode II: Attack of the Clones...all 4 of them are the most disappointing sequels I have ever seen.

Balnazzardi Crystal Skull is far from a horrible movie. I think most people would either place it under mediocre-good, but a lot of fanboys just hate on it cause it's the cool thing to do. The movie has some cool sequences, and most of the action sequences overall are pretty great. The writing is also pretty good, a huge improvement over the prequels. The only faults I have with it are the CGI jungle sequence and the ending which makes little sense. Pretty good movie though, in my opinion.

Almost everyone, including the cast/crew, agrees that Last Crusade is neck and neck in quality to the original. BUT there's this aggressive minority of online contrarians that want to say how much they think Temple of Doom is the best. LMAO. The film where even Spielberg and Lucas admitted they didn't know what they were doing with that entry. I think all of the Indy films are, at the very least, entertaining pulp adventures. Temple of Doom and Crystal Skull are clearly the weaker entries in this great series, though.

Temple of Doom is the best in the series. To me anyway. While Last Crusade didn't quite one up on Temple, it was definitely a lot better than Raiders. Yes they were both very similar, but there was more going on in Last Crusade. Notably the Holy Grail, Sean Connery and the love interest being a villain this time. Crystal Skull isn't bad on it's own. Comparing it to the other Indy films is impossible, they set the bar too high. Like Mr. Plinkett says, it's more of a visual imitation of an Indiana Jones film. Borderline spoof.

I kinda agree with you, it may be too "dark" for some, but Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom remains an ingenious adventure spectacle that showcases one of Hollywood's finest filmmaking teams in vintage form. Raiders>Last Crusade>Temple>Crystal Skull

Temple of doom and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are the weakest out of them. Last Crusade and raiders of the lost ark are brilliant.

Anyone who says Doom is a lot better than Raiders will get a 10-hr long stare from me .... like what the fcuk is inside this guy's brain ? I love Doom too, its better than 99.999% of other adventure movies ever made but Raiders is simply the perfection in every way, its not just giddy fun but the quiet moments are also heavy with an epic biblical sense of mystery which is not found in Doom or Crusade ...

Never got the point with the risk of Hitler getting the holy grail. So what? How would this make "armies of darkness march all over the face of the eart" as Jones the elderly put it?

See this is why Kingdom failed. Last Crusade was able to keep Indy as Indy yet still grow the character. Kingdom didn't do anything new with Indy but completely fucked the formula. Indiana Jones films seem so simple yet why do so many screw it up.

stories like this are proof to me that Lucas isn't the "creative genius" that he is often talked about as. I mean, just like with Star Wars, Lucas doesn't seem to understand the appeal of those movies AT ALL. most of us wouldn't want "Indiana Jones and the Haunted House" - and most of us didn't want the magic of "the force" ruined by stupid scientific explainations (midichlorians? really? wtf?!?)
