Harrison Ford probably asked them not to. I honestly don't understand why so many people are bothered about the voice. We got a lot of Harrison Ford in the de-aged performance. This is fantastic although there are AIs that can match performance. I'm not sure if that's what was used but I do believe if ILM would have used the voice AI, at least for the scenes where he's talking lower, it would've been much better as they could have had Harrison emphasize certain lines like the "you lost!" which the AI sounds more like "you loss!" They also could've mixed and matched certain lines like when they pick him up and he says, "hey guys!" the ordinal sounds much better than the AI. I'm not a huge fan of the AI voice technology but if it were used in cases like this, it could be very useful and having the original actor doing the performance and basically de-aging their voice is most definitely ethical. I believe they did that for Mark Hamill's voice in Mandalorian. Same studio. I don't see why they didn't do it here.

A more advanced AI could have pulled it off, I think they just wanted to respect Harrison and not turn him into a fully CG character, keep some humanity. And while I respect that, it probably wasn’t best for the film.

Thank you so much, I’m a huge Indy fan and this was one of the things that bothered me about this sequence. Well done.
I would like to see the full opening scene in indiana jones young voice.
YES!!! I was wondering why they didn't go this route in the actual film. Young Harrison is a lot more convincing this way. Are you planning to do anymore edits of the film? I'd love to see more!

Flat dead AI voice is more convincing this way? Do you even have ears?
This voice replacement is SO good, the vocals just perfectly match the state that young Indy would be in... This actually reminds me of the problems from the "Irishman" film, it's a good watch, but when you watch their physical movements or any other attributes, while they used CGI and Face Deepfakes, it can take you out completely... Good show CHAP!
This is way better than the original. I can't wait to see some improved deepfakes to get away from the weird CGI quality of his de-aged face.

@Julianjulesr1361 And yet... :) It did sound a bit robotic, but it sounded like an imperfect reproduction of Ford's voice when he did the originally trilogy. The original sounds like 80-year-old Ford mixed with too-cartoony CGI face animations.
@hekskey

@Julianjulesr1361 - Fair enough. For me, the original version _doesn't_ really sound natural when coming from that younger CGI face. When I hear the AI version (which I don't think would necessarily be the final version of it), I hear a bit of the digital artifacting in it, but that's _less_ noticeable to me than the older voice.

They should've done this with his voice. This is spot on. Harrison Ford did the best he could, but they could've tweaked it in a few places during the WWII portion of the film.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they did try an AI voice, but it didn’t work too well. I do prefer the original voice anyway, more natural and actually has Ford’s vocal mannerisms.

🎉👏👏👏 Excellent work! This is much better than the original!
Much better! Good work, Jason. Can't believe they didn't even de-age his voice. Man, this film got so close to greatness and to be overall good, but they dropped the ball too often.
This is absolutely mind blowing! 😱How it's possible that passionate fans/amateurs almost always end up doing far superior job with their home computers compared to giant movie studios with billions of money? 😕When I was watching these flashback scenes at the movie theater I was already thinking that "Somebody in the internet will make better job than this again." And I was right. Hearing young Harrison Ford speaking with old voice really put me off from the movie but this clip immediately felt like a real time travel back to eighties and original Indy trilogy. Incredible job!
AMAZING!
Damm this is amazing!
You made it ALOT better and more accurate to how young Indy sounded
Now that's much better!
I'd be happy with a version edited to include just this clip - his raspy voice in the later flashback scenes is explained by the fact he's just been hanged! Thanks!
It sounds amazing, and i would love to see the full sequence with Young Indy's voice but i think the main reason why they didn't altered Harrison's voice was because it would have been another layer into his performance and it would have been a little too much... Maybe were trying to be respectful to his performance so was more of a compromise His face was gonna be altered but not his voice
Voices isn’t something we think about. But now it is something we need to think about. This sounds amazing.
Great job!
It’s weird because there are moments in this opening scene that sound like young Harrison Like the lines “hey wait a second guys” and “you wanna stop for a little lie down?” Sound just like him in his prime.
Damnit! The voice didnt bother me before, but now it does lol
Nice. I enjoyed the film more than I thought I would, and didn't have a problem with most of the de-aging, but he definitely sounded old!
This is great. They DEFINITELY should always do this moving forward. Young people sound different from old people, nothing personal.... all film is art.... so do what is best for the final outcome. The voice sounds perfect.
Well done
Excellent work. I ran into another guy who did a re-edit of the parade scene. I think that if the fans agree, we can make a better quality movie...
This is so good! I Don’t understand why companies can’t do the simple work that individual people can do.

Hey pal, you did an amazing job 🙌 KUDOS 🤩 Fun fact: I'm Italian, and in my country we had two different voice actors dubbing our favorite archaeologist... Old Indy was dubbed by Michele Gammino (Harrison Ford's historic voice), while Young Indy was dubbed by... Roberto Gammino, one of Italy's most talented voice actors and, most of all, Michele's son! I'm glad we did this, it was such a beautiful and romantic choice ❤
This is great!! Just needs to be a little louder I think. Shame the studio didn't go this extra mile!
Interesting to hear
Good job man, a little on the monotone side, but I mean its Harrison Ford haha. Sounds like his narration from Blade Runner, but he definitely sounds his age from that era of Indy. I don’t understand why Lucasfilm doesn’t hire youtube sound and deepfake vfx artists. This film was really missing the Ben Burtt sound design for sure.
All that money and tech, and they still overlook the simple stuff. Great job.

Please do the entire flashback like this if you get the chance
Above all of the CGI muck in this opening sequence, the one thing that 100% took me out of it was hearing current day Harrison Ford's voice coming out of 80's era Indiana Jones. This is already so nicely done and helps take the uncanny sort of edge away from this scene a bit. I sincerely hope you're able to do the entire sequence at some point!

For me it was the ps3 cutscene face
You’ve done it
Ok I need this for Solo
You did God's work
This is incredible, what'd you use to replicate his voice? I've been trying to get an AI Harrison Ford voice for a while and haven't found a good one!
Very nice work, really. For my (german) ears it sounds near to perfect. Far better than the original voice from old Indy (Sorry Mr. Ford)
use this to dub over Alden Ehrenreich's line in Solo
This is what they should have done. Not perfect though way better than his old man voice. Good job!
Hey! Can you by any chance do this for the new indiana jones game trailer?? Amazing job!
Sure wish the delay in the home video release would be because they've de-aged his voice or brought in a voice actor to re-do the lines. It's so much better and more convincing with his younger voice matching his younger face.
How long did this take you? Just curious
The sound and music are 50% of the entertainment in a movie.- George Lucas
No budget… just a fab.. good on you
That is what they should to Indy voice since he is young in ww 2
Video deserves 10 mill views and an offer from Disney rn
How did you do that and what website did you use?
You've heard of Shamook, but have you heard of Jason S
Impressive. Only issue is when Indy is laying down the facts of the Nazi’s current predicament. It’s too monotone. He sounds bored. Other than that, great job.
This is really better. I think they could´ve tried something like that or, even better, hired a vocal artist to do his younger voice.
What program did you use?
I want to see this done for solo
I actually didn't notice. I've been used to gravelly-voiced Ford for awhile now. I also figured in this scene, where he does the most talking against a quiet background, his gravelly voice worked because he was telling the German officer basically to go to hell.
They thought he would sound young again if they'd played 'X marks the spot' in the background 😂
Now how do I get this onto my screen
How come they couldn’t figure it out
Amazing, great job. Can you fix the uncanny valley de-aged stuff?

looks good here
Please redo the entire flashback sequence.
I think the voice AI, in addition to allowing one to read a voice off of a script, can be transposed onto other voices. I've seen this with the voice AI transposed onto vocals for songs. What if you transposed the young Indy voice onto the old Indy?
The thing that bugged me most was his head just didn't seem to fit his body and that's all I could focus on
When he says, "You lost," the original sounds much better
Some of it has benefits but it sounds a bit robotic
I was still impressed by the deaging but I noticed that this is set a few years after the Last Crusade he looks like he did in 1981 here but mind you Harrison Ford never really started aging till well past the mid 90s in The Fugitive he almost looks like he does here considering he was 40 at the time of Raiders he has genes made of Platinum and he still has a full head of hair and is physically fit at 31 with a receding hairline and a curved back I'm slightly envious 😅
@marthastubbs8321
6 ай бұрын
Yeah he probably looks slightly too young in some shots but I can buy he's about the same age as he was in last crusade. Maybe drinking from the grail rejuvenated him
Did you make this in eleven labs?
His current voice is a lot raspier & the delivery slower than his younger voice (EDIT: this younger AI voice.) I haven't rewatched his older movies in quite a while, so the difference is quite stark to me.
This definitely is more authentic to the continuity of this scene but I actually prefer him sounding a little older knowing it was Harrison Ford himself that did the voice over a computer generating the voice
its very good isnt it, much closer. i can see why they may not have used the technique in a finished film though as there are some quality control issues with it. the bitrate sounds verys compressed and doesnt have the dynamic range of the original. also, their is some sync issues and some of the performance is a bit robot like.
Its crazy how a person in their bedroom can do better than a multi-billion dollar company
Although his voice does sound somewhat robotic, it reminds me of how he sounds in some of the video games like Emperor’s Tomb

Likely the main study source was that game, unless they wanted strictly harrison Ford
It's better. I am stunned that the modern CGI wizards in Hollywood can't figure out how to digitally alter a voice. This is something that has been technologically possible for a lifetime. If you look at various cuts and deleted scenes of Superman II, you can see how they altered Zod and Ursa's voices electronically to punch them up, and they sound great.
Maybe I could just assume he had a frog in his throat that day.

This sounds about as emotionless as the Book of Boba Fett Luke voice. Computer voices just can't replicate human emotion.
I’m not a fan of films being altered after the fact but this is one where they could update the de-aging effects and fix this voice issue. Also they could try removing every single shot of PWB.
😊
I didn’t know your voice changes after puberty. I thought the only time in a man’s life when they’re voice changes was during puberty, I didn’t know their voice can change when they get older.

Millions of dollars spent at Lucasfilm and a fan was able to fix something that made a scene more accurate.
Also this scene was perfect, apart from 0:28. Something really off with his eyes, like they should have been brighter with the torchlight shining in them.
Got to admit as much as I like the movie I am disappointed they didn’t make him sound younger😁😁😁
The Japanese version has always been voiced by one person, except in his youth. So I didn't feel anything different about this film. Am I right in saying that your reaction is that it is a pity that the voice is so old, even though the film shows him as a young man? (I am using a translator, apologies if there are any flaws.)
His voice was mostly fine, but it was really obvious in this first scene and it took me out of the film. I hope they remaster it in the future George Lucas style (never thought I’d say that) your edit shows what they could potentially do to make it better
Please fix all scenes!
Very much better. Great work! The voice was the worst part of the prologue...
I haven’t seen this movie and never will because Indiana Jones had his send off in the last crusade decades ago. So I’m actually watching the notorious de-aged Indiana for the first time and I have to say wow, does it look wrong. Definitely uncanny valley territory. Some of the facial expressions are just wrong and the dialogue doesn’t sink up with his lips very well at all. Also, yeah him having an old man voice so obviously takes you out of the movie.
Redone is much better. It felt like mid adult tone of Indiana Jones instead the original tone sucks that it auto tune of using old Harrison's voice but not fixing it down like why? Why could'nt they done that like using young Luke in either Mandolorian and Book of Boba Fett in chop down young voice?
I hope in future all is cgi , mankind is most part obsolete these days .
Jesus Christ WTF????? How can they have released that? Is it a joke? What the hell????
It still bums me out that Lucasfilm got this so wrong, but at the same time got James Earl Jones so right in Kenobi.
See the problem is half of it sounds great but the other half doesn’t, not because of emotions but because Harrison physically talks different now. His mouth moves different. His older self performance shines thru on the deaging effect and it simply doesn’t work throughout unfortunately
Makes it better, though I’m not a fan of using AI instead of getting a good voice actor who can greatly impersonate Ford
Eh who cares that his voice sounds a little older. It's Harrison Ford! Actually he sounds great for an 80 year old lol
