The term 'Himalaya' is a conjunction of two Sanskrit words hima + aalaya - hence the Indian emphasis on the 2nd syllable (where the parts join) rather than the 3rd syllable. Also, the traditional Indian usage implies that Himalaya is *the* abode of snow in India, and thus used in singular (unlike the Western usage in plural for mountain ranges like the Alps, etc.)

Indian accent is actually the British pronunciation, but the continued accent sounds funny

No brooo. Everyone has their own accent that can be different. But pronunciation should be same for all. Like the work KASHMIR, the correct pronunciation is kaashmiir only. But british say CASHMERE. It is their wrong pronunciation which makes the spelling different from the original. Like I am bengali, i speak hindi in my bengali accent, but i do not mispronunce hindi words.

Just FYI, Hima means snow and Alaya means abode in Sanskrit. So Himalaya means abode of snow. The word Alaya is pronounced in Sanskrit as Aalaya.

This guy has a mixture of British-Indian-american accents. Amongst all the beautiful things India has to offer the crown jewel is spirituality - learn from Srimad Bhagwatam by Srila Prabhupada - the reality vs illusion will be demystified and one will live more meaningful, full of love, joy and purposeful life.
