What is more pertinent is that Kashmir is an international dispute - it is a still live India-Pakistan Dispute in the UN and there are several Security Council resolutions and obligations of both India and Pakistan to conduct a plebiscite and abide by the people's verdict in the plebiscite - all this is conveniently overlooked in the present debate before the Supreme Court or anywhere else - also to this day one-third of Jammu and Kashmir is under Pakistani control. The UN has not recognized even the accession agreement by the Kashmir Maharaja and so did not accept several countries including the U.S. and U.K., China etc. They have not recognized/approved of this Article 370 also.
