There are a lot of smaller countries in dire need for a small fighter with good avionics. Gone are the days of the F-5 and Mig-21. The new F-16's are not affordable. This is a perfect time for India to sell.

  • @vm8136

“The new f16s are not affordable” But they are selling old f16s to cash strapped countries, like Argentina. Plus america also gives out credit lines and price cuts as they gave to Pakistan for buying the new f16s at half the price. Truth is fighter sales are a big geopolitical game and india does not have the clout as us, Russia, China or Europe. So Tejas despite being a good aircraft is unlikely to see foreign orders soon.

Currently we have every technolgy to decrease the weight of kaveri and increase the thrust to 90kn. Currently GTRE and DRDO trying to get funding again by using different methods like. The Dry kaveri is perfectly working for its class of engein and Drodo show that we can used that engein for Ghatak ucav and currently 8 engeines in under manufacturing by goderage for Ghatak prototype. Then gtre trying to get 1 tejas to integrate in tejas mk1 to show the kaveri as technolgy demonstrater to the government. Also they offered that we can use testing facilities of AMCA engein program for the certification to save money. And waiting to again start funding to create new afterburner section of kaveri. And can be used in half life cycle of tejas mk-1a.

Composite airframe causing low radar cross section, lighter weight and low maintenance, electronic warfare suite, in flight refueling, bvr missiles, all axis fly by wire control system, highly reliable and efficient ge f404 engine. All these make it amongst the best aircrafts in small category The biggest advantage of Tejas for India is the development of local manufacturing capabilities in the industry and the generation of skilled manpower and such jobs The best part about Tejas is that with the new Indian radar they are integrating the best of weapons including Russian, European as well as Israeli. This is unthinkable with other aircrafts, French won’t integrate their missiles with Israeli radars and nobody would allow their missiles to be fired using Russian radars The govt must also play an active role in ironing out the differences between the armed forces and DRDO agencies. It’s important to mention that previous rm late mr. Parrikar was instrumental in getting the IAF to accept the Tejas by promising incremental improvements with the mk1a variant. Otherwise the previous ten years of congress regime were disastrous for every military procurement and had virtually killed the Tejas program

Just Bharath's domestic defence needs to counter a 2.5 front war are so huge and so urgent that I don't know why or how they can consider export. Let's see by when they can replace the flying coffins with Tejas Mk1 (which now has counter in J-10C), perhaps they intend to use the Mig21 for Kamakaze strikes. Hope the ejection seats and parachutes work for our Air warriors. Hopefully Tejas Mk2 whenever it comes can counter Porkistani F-16's. But we have no immediate counter for Chinese 5th Generation already in commercial production unless we lease Su-57 on lease which will go well with S400. Meanwhile MRFA will just keeping going around the revolving door. While Turkey already has advanced drones to be given to Porkistan and a 5th Gen fighter prototype on the tarmac, AMCA is still only getting parts made. What's the big deal of having a aircraft carrier with insufficient number of naval fighter jets to fully take benefit of it.

Bharat's pitch to its prospective arms buyers is "reliable and affordable",as Palki says. Russia's arms and ammunition are deemed to be affordable but not reliable and the country's been the top arms suppliers to Bharat, over the years. The reason Bharat's sourcing so much from them is not just on account of the affordability factor, but bilateral ties, diplomacy, defence associations and agreements and global politics also tend to be determining factors in the purchase decision. To cite an example, the Russian MIG fighter jets do not hold a reputation of being reliable and sophisticated, but unfortunately, our air force has many of these in its fleet. And to add to the concerns, many of these have aged, but have not been taken off service. Could this prove to be detrimental or a comprmise in the country's security? I hope not.

For a small country like Malaysia, Tejas can't even cover the combat radius from North to South of 800km+. Tejas only has a combat radius of 500km, and that's also on paper. Actually JF-17 is of better option but due to other factors and geopolitical reasons, FA-50 was chosen. Despite being a Korea jet, major systems are still from the US.

Nothing indigenous except the simple obsolete delta design of the 80's. Consequences and conditions for the usage, apply for approval before use. Common western condition of sales! Tejas even failed to takeoff in recent Dubai Airshow due to technical issues of two jets sent. Not one but twice. Amazing!

The design of modern fighters like Rafale, typhoon and gripen uses delta wing. The range of Tejas is not disclosed and that 500 km is actually the range of American f16 that you are comparing to a car. Tejas was designed to replace the mig21 of IAF and has much better capabilities than mig21 and hence a perfect fit for the role.

They are just playing the field why would Nigeria and Egypt pick a piece of sub-standard equipment like Tejas it is not stealthy slower than the F16 and is not preferred. Argentina has shunted off Tejas and prefers F16 instead. Egypt already has 218 F16s the Tejas is not a rralistic contender. Nigeria has JF17s similar specifications to Tejas. Essential why go for an inferior future weapons system from a supplier with no track record. Like the Argentina deal which I said at that time was a non starter. So are these two days Palki will spin nonsense not factual stories to you all day it is all about creating an image and brand Modi BJP so that you understand what she calls"Modi Magic" and says because of Modi BJP "future belongs to India" well you can see hear that it doe not with sub-standard aircraft that a lower specification than old existing in the developing world. Palki will lie to you, you deserve the truth and the Facts. Additional info the US grants Egypt despite human rights issues. Last month they gave Egypt 1.215 Billion US Dollars and you already have all those f16 there is no way you are by Tejas it is laughable idea as it was in Argentina.

@gotislay Does not matter the thing is a dog and people like Argentina just by second hand F16s instead. No one wants an already out of date robust coffin. Look the Rafale purchase cut back price sky rockets and made by BJP as assembly parts by a company with no experience in aviation. Modi"s BJP let them fly out of date equipment give them some cheap sub standard already out of date product like the Yejas better product Rafale cut the numbers back give it overpriced it to crony mates with no experience. Modi BJP does not give a damn how about some corporate Bharat branding instead.

You can tell India has a religious problem when a country with many religious and not all Hindu produces a missile called Brahmos which has links to Hindu nationalism that it rather controversial and liable to upset minorities in India and neighbours but that type of decision makes Modi happy. 😊
