I’m 20 and pregnant with my first baby! Watching your videos have helped me tremendously in so many ways. I don’t have a lot of people in my life with great advice on teaching children and I especially wanted to know how to raise them without spanking or yelling. I never ever want to resort to violence but I was also worried that they would end up spoiled because that’s what my family would tell me. Thanks to you I’ve learned more on how to discipline my children without resorting to violence ever and I’m so grateful for that.

We do OPOL at home and I thought maybe I can teach him to read in my language since the alphabet in my language sounds nearly exactly how the phonics sound in English alphabet. Or would it be better to teach him English first and then Latvian, my language? Hopefully it isn't too confusing. Thank you for all your hard work and time put into these videos! God bless your family

I'd start off with board books. Give him a little basket with a few board books in it. Leave it out for him. And when you see him looking through it, you can sit down and read one too him. The five little monkeys is a great one. Or get some classics. Even if he just holds and looks at the books. Start there. He is still a baby. I wouldn't worry about what works for other people. Each child is different. And if you are worried about it chances are your already a good mom. Take a look at some of the mom's that never read to their kids ever.

When do you implement independent reading ? I have my son read as soon as he wakes up and he doesn’t really enjoy it, he whines, even with books he has chosen.
