Thank you so much for this video, it was exactly what I needed. Right after watching, I went on my computer and typed up our house rules titled 'In Our Home'. 1. We NEVER hurt or hit 2. We use our inside voices 3. We make our bed each morning 4. We tidy up our toys after we have finished playing 5. We put our empty plate or bowl into the sink 6. We talk to each other using kind words 7. We listen to Daddy or Mummy the first time they tell us to do something 8. We don't purposely annoy or bother each other 9. We always tell the truth 10. We wait for our turn to talk, and don't interrupt others I am looking forward to introducing them during our morning basket time tomorrow :)

This literally is right on time! I have been so discouraged this week with my 4 kids (5 and under)…. It’s become crazy in my home and it is disturbing. It’s nice to know even your beautiful family struggles too! Thank you so much for being so open and giving wonderful advice!!! I will implement all these rules (my exact problems) this weekend! Also, I would love to see an updated video of your playroom!!! How do you manage toys with so much kids and so many gift giving holidays🙄. Stresses me out and I don’t want anymore toys!! Thank you Jady… you are a God given gift to me and my family!

The toys are driving me nuts too. I find that the toys quantity is equal to the behavior. More toys, worse behavior.

Awwh, I feel you momma! We have a 10 year old and 4 age 1-6 and we homeschool! We offer coupons for good behavior! If they do good in school, finish their daily checklist or are super helpful etc...they pick from the "gold star" bag! It has coupons like "have a popsicle (then brush your teeth)", "watch one show when your stuff is done", "15 minutes of electronics", "pick a family game", "skip one checklist chore ", "skip one school subject (if you're not behind this week)" etc!!! And we also have a kindness bag. Every coupon in there encourages them to share wjatever treat they get pr to watch a show with everyone or I offer to do things for them such as "I will make your bed for you." Or "share juice with a few friends" (that means their siblings lol) when we see nice, unprompted acts of kindness to husband or I or amongst themselves. Also,, They each get ONE night a week to stay up for one hour after bedtime..they each have their OWN night to stay up so they get quality time with us or alone time to do a craft or whatever without being bothered.. but they MUST have a stay up late coupon and their checklist and school work for the day has to be complete or they go to bed as usual and have to wait until the next week. Weekends we all have family time all weekend so we get quality time but we don't always get one on one time so the stay up late coupons work wonders. They usually buy those from the treasure box (they get 2 tickets a day if their school work is completed and most treasure box items are 10 tickets and we offer a few cool dollar tree items but mostly a sugary snack or treat and coupons because they don't get the treats throughout the week very much or at all) (even the 3 year old gets tickets and can count them and has an appropriate checklist!) but they get the the stay up late coupons from the gold star bag too sometimes. Oh & They can't choose the coupons from the bags.. its a surprise to keep it fair, they can only choose the ones they buy from the treasure box. Coupons allow them to enjoy different things without us hearing "I want that too, no fair!", from everyone. They all know the coupons are earned. They don't watch any electronics or really get sweets otherwise unless it's a special occasion. Since coming up with these few systems...so much has changed. If they complete their daily checklist..they get a coupon. And it's fine if they use 2 or 3 in one day. It shows them hard work and kindness etc pays off and that the coupons actually hold value. Here is the catch though - if I have to repeat myself more than twice on anything and I KNOW they heard me...or if for they break a rule they KNOW about (like not annoying a sibling or leaving germ x out or lying about doing a checklist chore etc)..they get a tally mark on the refrigerator board. I have each day of the week written up there and each child's name on it. If they get 3 tally marks in a day...they can't use ANY electronic related coupons..and they can't stay up late if it's their night to. If they get 4 in a day they are grounded aka they can't use ANY coupons and they go to bed 30 minutes early. No spanking. Hardly any yelling (I'm not perfect, I lose my cool at times but I'm learning) and LOADS of constant improvement from the kiddos. I know this was long..but I wanted to share other options too with anyone who feels lost like I did for YEARS. I'm a step mom of two and we have 5 total...and as I said, I homeschool them all & I have the other mothers of our children in our lives to consider when it comes to discipline issues as well...but noone can deny our children are RESPECTFUL, KIND, and obedient. They get attitudes, leaves messes everywhere, are forgetful ..many days of the week. But they try their best 90% of the time and it's not stressful if IM being consistent and they will tell anyone we know that they LOVE their life and home because it's different. They tell me most every day and write me post it notes constantly. We each have mailboxes to tell each other things and they fill each others boxes up eith their own versions of kindness coupons too. Its extraordinary. And they know what it's like to EARN things they want even if it's a simple coupon. To them it's everything, especially on school days. This doesn't address things like hitting, though. That's a case by case thing but typically they lose a privilege. And if someone breaks someone else's toy on purpose they have to ask the owner of they want then to replace the toy. If the answer is yes.. theyn they have to use THEIR earned money to help us replace the toy. This has only happened once but they ALL learned a lesson from it. It may seem harsh but we only have 15-20 short years to help them become the kind of people we want in the next generation so anything we can do to help each other figure it out...is worth it me. May God Bless you on your journey. I'm sure you're doing great. After all...you cared enough to watch this video and take action!! Xoxo-Vanessa

When my 9 & 7 year are hitting each other, that’s where I struggle with is finding the right consequence for that action. I would say I am not too consistent as a parent and not always good at following through. Have so many good intentions/ideas, just don’t do them.
