Yup. Mike knows Chester's range and knew if he started in that key, he'd struggle with the higher notes later on.

That’s exactly what I was going to say, sign of true professional musicians. Chester started to high, Mike told him to drop it a couple of octaves and they perform a beautiful rendition! You can see how Chester started to high, his second attempt flowed so much better

Also, just to add to how professional they are, notice Chester pulls away from the microphone when he sings the really loud notes. That’s on purpose, so his vocals don’t overpower the song. You notice a lot of true, professional singers use this technique.

This was my first time hearing chester singing something outside of rock and this was a beautifully did cover of rolling in the deep. R.I.P Chester🙏

Chester is a great loss, so missed. Everything he sings he does it with so much passion. Adele's breakout album was Adele, 19 in 2008, my favorite Adele album.

Pretty sure Mike told Chester he was in the wrong key when they stopped in the beginning. Good teammate.

The secret was that Chester started singing in the wrong key. He was one octave high. Mike called him back to correct him and ask him to start over.

Chester's range is actually wider than Adele's. His is 3 octaves, and Adele's is just shy of 3.

@whatiwasgoingtosay they did this song for the first time 2 weeks earlier at a fan club Summit with just 2 guitars. They were asked to perform this song because of that performance that at the fan club Summit. A fan recorded him singing this song and the organisers of the festival saw it and asked Chester to perform this song.

Chester man RIP. Beautiful singer and an incredible performer.

So, this just hit me. If you think about it, Chester was not just a rock and roll singer. He was a soul singer with a heavy metal edge. He put a ridiculous amount of emotion into everything he sang.

Chester started in too high of a key and Mike didn't want him to strain his voice so he was talking to him about dropping the key lower. I am sure Chester could have pulled it off but it was the right call.

I'm a huge Adele fan and love almost all of her music and she is arguably one of the best singers of the last 20 years. However, and I mean this 110%, everytime I here Adele's version on the radio, I wish I was hearing this version!!! No BS, nothing to do with Chester's death or anything like that. The truth is, some songs were meant for specific people to sing. Like Prince writing "Nothing Compares to You", would have not been the same if Sinead didn't sing it! Like Whitney singing "I Will Always Love You" (Dolly's song)! Of course this song was never released by Bennington and Linkiln Park, but this version gives me serious goose bumps and shows just how great of a singer, artist, and professional Chester was! P.S. I really don't think people understand just how hard it is too sing a super popular song live, by a super popular singer! I honestly have only heard a handful of live singing performances that are on this level! Of course Whitney was one of them. Another is Freddie Mercury! Some people may think differently, but I honestly put this performance up there with some of the greatest live singing performances I've heard in my 50+ years on earth. Again, and I can't stress this enough, Adele's version of this song is great. However, a disappointment compared to this version!!!
