I just got one of the Heavyweight versions of the hitch. Not because I needed one that could tow 15k lbs (my trailer only has a GVWR of about 8500 lbs and about 6000 lbs dry) but I have two tow vehicles. A stock height 19 Ranger and a 07 F250 with a 6” lift. I love the design that allows quick adjustment of the hitch height with only a locking pin. So much more convenient that having to undo bolts and reset height every time I use different vehicle to tow RV

This is the best explanation of this hitch I've seen over many videos. Well done, thanks for the info. I think someone else pointed this out, but one area of note is an 8500 pound trailer, or even 7000 pound trailer, is likely going to exceed tongue weight of the lowest middleweight.

Nice video and close up's...This is probably the best WDH on the market..as an engineer im tempted to make 7075 spring bars, which are just as strong and half the weight At 120 lbs its like having someone standing on your hitch...a lot of weight.

RE: your comment regarding the 8500 pound spring bars for the 7000 pound trailer. Didn't you say that those 8500 pound rated spring bars could only take 850 pounds of tongue? That 7000 pound trailer can put 700-1050 pounds on the ball; thus possibly overloading the tongue capacity of those 8500 pound bars. Wouldn't the heavier bars be in order?

I am wondering the same thing, my soon to be trailer GVWR is 7,600lb and the manufacturer says hitch weight around 850lb. So would it be better to go with the 12,000lb arms?

Thank you for providing this information for us. It looks like a good unit. What’s it’s cost & how does the cost, performance & durability relate to others on the market? Your video was very informative; maybe too much so. Just a suggestion, work up a bullet point list of the areas you want to cover & follow that during your presentation. In watching this video, you were talking fast and repeating the same information many times throughout. If you critically evaluate it you could edit your presentation to a tighter, more informative video - Again, thanks for the presentation.

well, I'm sold. Honestly, I paid the dealership to set up mine because I didn't have the time to adjust the hitch. My next WDH will be this one. Although we won't need one until we upgrade the RV since we'll be moving to a 3/4 ton and our camper will only weight ~5.5k lbs once we fully load it.

Running the 8,500 bars at or close to absolute max will be fine but I felt more comfortable getting the 12,500 bars as well just to have a little leeway. They work just fine with a 7k or 8K lb trailer weight. I called weighsafe and they agreed

Still uses friction bars for sway control. You don't need sway control 100% of the time. What if you're driving around town making lots of turns or backing 90deg to RV space? It's the downfall of all friction bars hitches. You can't turn sway OFF when you need to.

Confused about WD hitches, if you have a trailer towed by a mini van that requires a WD hitch however if you have a F450 which is way over kill for the same trailer and doesn’t need a WD hitch. Shouldn’t you just get a more capable tow vehicle?

  • @jamesonclark5854

Make sure to buy a spare weight distributing setup if you decide to buy this product. Mine lasted 1/2 a camping season before the scale stopped working. To get it fixed under warranty, I just need to send it in, wait for them to repair it, and then Weigh Safe ship it back to me. Great... now I have no hitch to pull my camper! And now you see why you'll need a spare hitch setup for every time you need to send this very expensive hitch in to be repaired! Not the level of service I would have ever expected for such an expensive product! There should be a replacement sent to me and I'll return the defective one in that packaging. At this point, I definitely regret making this purchase.
